Can someone tell me the rotor width tolerence's for the fj62 vented rotors.

I did the v6 caliper upgrade (from 3rd gen 4runner) on my first gen 4Runner and the fit seems to be real snug. I want to compare the spec width of the 62 vented rotor to the 3rd gen rotor.

don't understand the question.. the width of the rotor will be the same. your caliper will possibly rub on the backing plate on your disks.. just grab some pliers, bend the plate back and your good to go.

Let me restate and hopefully make it more understandable. When I try to put the calipers over the rotors the fit is super snug...I really need to push them on. The pads are making contact with the rotors without the brake pedal being depressed.

I can't help you with the specs, but....

I had that happen on my truck, like you said they went on but very snug. After I put them on the rotor would spin, but you could hear them rub. Well, I drove about 10 miles and when they heated up and expanded, they seized up. When I got out of the truck the rotor was red hot, the wheel was hot as h e double hockey sticks. I limped home using the ebrake after a couple hours of cooling off.

What I found was the pads I bought were thicker than "normal". I went to the parts store, had them pull out each brand and level that fit my truck, and used my calipers to find the smallest pair. They ended up being the premium ones, but they fit fine, and never had a problem again.

Alternatively, you could grind your pads down some -- but I believe some pads had aespestos or other bad stuff, so do it outside with a ventilator.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the input Kelly - I talked to Erik on the phone and he suggested removign the anti-squeel pads and see if that gives me more clearance. If not, I think I will pick up some new pads.
