I sure would love to find a cheap alternative to Dynamat...

In other news, I've created two really nice panels for the cargo area from door panels. ($5 for scratch and dent hollow core doors from Menards.)

I cut down the staples needed with nippers (by far the hardest part of this process) , loaded them into the staple gun, then stapled my vynil onto the board. Before I put on the vinyl, i ran it in the dryer for 1 minute to soften it and remove all folds. Turned out great, for a panel on the cheap. I could have gotten 4-5 of these from one door.

Wow! very nice, now I get it. The door stuff is the same material as stock. Those panels look very nice. As far as the dynamat goes, if you were to use it, putting it directly onto the sheet metal would be the best solution. A good combo with your panels. As far as my usage of the dynamat, pretty much a waste except for the panels on the firewall. Hindsight and all but now that I wish I had used the skate matt on the rear panels. Would have been competitive, pricewise. I like the fact that you can reuse all your mounting hardware. Nice mod Weebo!

securing cargo/gas jerry cans

rsbcruisers solution to the cargo securing problem is elegant and practical:clap:........always worried about securing the gas jerry cans and this seems to be a great solution; just have not been able to source the bolt hangers post # 31......REI website does not list them anymore and others that I have seen look cheaply made:hhmm:......recommends appreciated........TIA

Lou

I'm thinking that with the 6mm u bolts, these bolt hangers should hold down some weight. Certainly not strong enough for holding down some serious weight. Want that then go beefy with your hardware. Anyways, my tiedown idea, for what it is worth. I used five bolt hangers per side. Two low, three high. Had to go with 3/4" long bolts here.

Wow! Lou. Bet you had to wipe the dust off of this old thread. Yeppers, just like Carlos said, they are bolt hangers. You should be able to locate them at a climbing store in Birmingham or as Carlos suggested, over the internet. Below is another link. This one leads to the Metolius hangers.
