Made a little progress today.

I helped another Mudder assemble his FJ 40 and get it running and then worked on this for a few hours.

I really had no idea body filler would burn. I guess it has to be 1/4" thick before a plasma cutter will light it.

(This is on the "Good" section I'm reusing.)

The rear of the bed is the final height. The front still needs to go down 4". I just forgot to trim the lip before I dropped the bed frame on.

I think it is a little over the top for this rig.

A little more progress on the Bed.

I had the UPS man help me take the steel decking off. I smoothed the edges on all four corners, flipped the bed over and welded the bottom to the sill.

I welded up some supports to stiffen the center of the bed.

These wil also be used to secure the bed to the frame with bolts.

I flipped the deck back over and slid the top frame structure back on.

It almost fits.

A little more fine tune grinding and it will fit like a glove. It will then be time to make the wheel wells and the rest of the uprights.

It will then be time to shorten the tailgate.

It's really not THAT good.


I must have got a little crazy with the Walnut shells when I blasted it. The inside bottom is almost completely gone.

The front is fitted and the height is dead on.

I ground down the diamond areas of the diamond tread to get a good surface to weld to and so it sits where it is suppose to.
