Everything was the problem. :) The 45 degree flare angle didn't help. The only fittings I could find with the SAE flare had standard threads. If it had been JIC then perhaps one could find the M14 x 1.0, but I doubt it. The thread pitch of M14 x 1.0 is impossible to obtain in any type of fitting as far as I can tell. You can find almost anything in M14 x 1.5, but no M14 x 1.0.

I've seen cases like this with odd ball thread pitches were the manufacture uses a proprietary design that forces you to use them for replacement parts. I remember making replacement parts for a fiberglass chopper gun, it had a threaded spray tip that had an odd ball thread size of 1 inch by 40 threads pre inch (try finding that thread size in the machinists hand book), and nobody makes that thread. So having access to a machine shop can come in very handy for cases like that.

Bucketman, having a family member with access to a machine shop is a wonderful thing. That's one of the reasons i set up a full machine shop at home, to handle little problems like making this "special", one of a kind fitting. So what was different about this fitting, was it the flair angle, or the thread pitch, or what?
The flare angle is 45 degrees as opposed to the AN standard of 37 degrees. All of the fittings we looked at on line were also M14X1.5
