Got my replacement VSV. For an Isuzu truck, but made by denso, 24v, and almost perfect plug shape. It matched the other valve that is working fine. Quick trim, and we now have fully functioning 4wd and 2wd again with my buttons!

Cool find, where did you source that from?

i snagged it on eBay Here, they have some other ones that had matching mount brackets, but different port locations, or plugs. So I went with matching ports and plug with a different mounting bracket. But for $40 Instead of $370+ it’s totally worth it ha. Measure the ohms and my working one is 165, new one is 168, so right in the hunt for a solid replacement.

A little update, I had been struggling with my backup camera, checking and rechecking. I decided that I think the camera was bad. Thank you Amazon for your generous return policy on defective items. Lo and behold I plugged the replacement camera in and it fired right up. Phew!

I didn’t get it wired AS clean as I would have liked, but I’m confident that it will remain protected from water entering thecabin, and I didn’t disturb any items in the vehicle, which is always my goal.

Putting my trimmed 6/3 ground wire from wiring a 50a plug to work!

I ran the wire on the outside of the gasket until the vertical area of the door jamb, then passed it perpendicularly under it to the inside. Not perfect, but reversible if needed. I also added plenty of liquid electrical tape to any unsealed items!

I followed the location of another members 76 (I can’t find the post) and used the right door top for mounting.

Last thing, I’m waiting on some new leaf bushings from cruiser outfitters, but in the mean time I found these dobinsons shackles for a great price. Atleast it’s the best I’ve found. I ordered one set for the front and when they arrived and looked good I ordered another for the rear. Figured I’d pass along some savings ha! Here they are, $45 and free shipping. They are listed as DOB-SK59-047, but what arrives is DOB-SK59-047+048 which matches the dobinsons site, and they also have on the site for $90. A little odd, but half price for the right shackles works for me! They also have some other dobinsons stuff, just search “dobinsons” and sort through.

Well sadly (for the truck) I’ve been away from home for the last few weeks so I’m just barely getting back to it on projects.

The good news is a ton of the items needed arrived in the mean time! So now I should only be limited by my time and skill
First up is the Turbo installation. This is the biggest one I have on the table right now with the most down time so I want to get it under way. I got some before videos documented for sounds, and now I’m starting the PB Blaster party and the easy assembly parts

My assembly parts bin finally getting applicable use LOL.

Toyota Texas TMMTX throws a lot of those bins away every year and I don’t know why.
You need to start collecting them! I bet a few guys would like them (starting with @Onur !) ! This one only got tossed because it was squished a bit and a friend recovered it from the plant. It sat under my desk holding my safety shoes at work while I was in TMC, thankfully I was able to get it out of there so it can live a better life

So I got a few things done periodically today, some good, some less then I was hoping.
Got the manifold off, not as bad as I thought it would be. Though most nuts came out attached to a stud HA. The threads exposed were fairly rusty. After getting the manifold off, I thought I’ll just quickly take off the rear section. That is not my luck. Heat, penetrating oil, a broken rubber mallet, and one humongous ratcheting wrench I thought I’d never have a use for later, it’s separated. Then the fun of chipping out the rings, cleaning the grooves and giving it a fresh coat of pain to help it match its new other half.

While I was waiting for it to dry I figured I’ll dig into the pump. I knew I needed to modify the TPS bracket for my sweet electronic transmission, so I was focused on getting that done.
Unfortunately to get to the cover off, I need the throttle linkage off, and for that I need the TPS off, and for that there is one Phillips in the back with zero room. And there was no way I wanted to take the intake off.

the perfect combo turned out to be an adjustable wrench, a PH2 tip, and a large blade screw driver. Broke it loose without stripping and got it all off LOL. I was proud of that.
After getting it all off I started on the bracket. I was hoping to just bend it, but after a few attempts, I knew it needed welding. Cut it off, mounted the pieces and gave it a few spots with the tig. Cleaned it off so the TPS will sit flat and it looked good!

I need a couple screws still for the idle and max, but I’ll stop by a hardware store for them. I started heating and bending the fuel pipe, but got too ambitious and ended up with cracks in it. Not what I was hoping for. I got the compensator all installed aside from the screws and fuel pipe as I really didn’t want the pump open any longer than it needed. Got a new pipe ordered, unfortunately the only places that have the pipe for the new orientation have really long wait times or crazy high shipping costs. I like partsouq for speed and price but they only have the same as what I broke, and since I was ordering I got new studs and nuts for the manifold. So I’ll give it a go and likely will just grab some longer fuel hose instead of bending crazy.

There is so much stuff that gets discarded that I wish I could walk away with. To be honest I never gave the bins much thought until I saw your photo of how you are using yours.

I am enjoying your thread a lot. It has some really good tech and tips.

Same here at HQ and even at suppliers. We recover warranty parts to investigate and improve them, and then they are all scrapped. I went o Hino in AR, they had a whole room full of E-locker diffs, all scrapped for various reasons. Terrible. If you ever end up with extra bins that you don't need let me know, I always love a good bin that is tougher than old Tupperware!

I appreciate the kind words, I want my thread to helpful to others!

I also received my escape gear covers (Thank you again for your help) and they will be going on as soon as I can wrap up this turbo work!

Slowly Chunking away at this project. Put new rings on the manifold and it slipped in no problem. This monstrosity of iron and aluminum is probably the most beautiful thing that’s come across this workspace!

Figured I should take a crack at getting the exhaust out so I can hang the manifold, I wanted to remove it via disassembling, but then the bolts and flanges laughed at me so saws all came out to play. I’m seriously amazed how heavy that muffler is. It’s been repaired before and this thing must have 50lbs of crystallized Kyushu Sea salt in it. Going to have to put some weight in the back or it’s going to look like a dung beetle!

Anyway, all the old stuff is out and only more thing checked off the list!

anyone know what this plug is? It’s attached to the alternator harness, it kinda looks like an Elocker plug, but just curious if someone has something actually plugged into it?

Did a few other odds and ends tonight. Hung the manifold assembly and paused for a bit to wipe my tears of joy from what I saw there. Such a great sight. Didn’t tighten it down as I’m waiting for new studs for most the holes. Also re attached the kickdown cable to the IP.

lastly I installed my oil feed. It seems that I ha e a few more items in the way of my pressure sender which made this not the funnest thing I’ve ever done. Thank heavens for stubby wrenches. But it’s done now so as long as I have no leaks I can forget about that in the future ha.
I need to order some intake piping items, and head to the hardware store for some odds and ends like hose for the PCV.

it seems about time to start the puzzle of creating the exhaust now....

Finally got to use a rubber cover I have had rolling around my box for years. Hoarder : 1, Intake opening : 0

Picked up some bolts for the idle and max adjustment on the pump. Not what I wanted, but not a lot of options. And Atleast the price was right! Now just waiting on the fuel pipe (which amazingly is supposed to arrive Friday, love partsouq shipping) so hoping to have all that bundled up by the weekend.

I decided to pull the pan tonight as that is one of the last 2 “hard” items (the other being making the exhaust). Not so bad, and any work under the truck makes me thankful to have a 4x4 where I can actually lay under there. Cleaned off the block so it’s ready for install after I get the pan ready.

fun surprise in the on as well, an old stem seal. That’s a first for me. Glad to know at least one has been changed (since I have no oil issues with the truck)!

Anyone have a recommended sealer? I put black FIPG on most things, this one had grey on it (not sure what brand). Just curious what others use.
