we bought it in a quite healthy condition, just rebuilt it to stock an refabricated some details Toyota cannot deliver anymore...

Some bodywork has to be done in a few years.

The bed is an US shortbed, lengthend about 25cm in front of the rear wheels.
We had to change to an elektrik fuel pump, the stock one could work with the new fuel with 5% alkohol.

Some work on the frame and with the door panels inside and we´ll be finde for the next years.
Hope we manage to get some ventilation windows and the window in the back to slide open from the US...that would be just perfect.

I love your truck man! It's an inspiration for my own slow rebuild of The Mule.
Also, I'm a regular at my local scrapyard, If I see a good condition rear slider window, I'll definitely grab it for you. For what it's worth, the slider makes a huge difference in getting excess heat out of the cab.

Heh, sometimes, it seems there should be a first-gen Hilux board, just for the few fanatics that drive these great machines!

Edit: is that cooler in the first few pics something unique to Deutschland? That's one of the best looking ones I've seen!

Hey Chuck,

yes a thread to collect first.gen. pics and restauration problems would make it easyer to find the anwers and inspirations.

Thanks to mud and our old UK brochure we found the pics to rebuild the metal grid in front of the bed...

"Also, I'm a regular at my local s****yard, If I see a good condition rear slider window"
THANKS; but we are waiting for Matthes container to arrive in Oslo, hopefully it will bring the desired....

You are lucky to have junk yards to find some Hi-Lux stuff, in Germany there haven´t been enough around to even have a small chance to find something.
But if you find the rear metall part of the mudflaps --- that would be fantastic.

What cooler you mean? The Zarges alu-box? That box is skrewd to the bed for lockable storage.

there are a few thermoelectric coolers, replacing the top of an alu box. But I would rather use an compressor box if I need it working well. the thermoelectric system just cools 20°C under the surrounding temperature and needs lots of amps....

I will keep an eye out for the mudflaps.

That's a storage box? it looked like a neat lockable cooler! I was gonna comment on tracking one down to keep my Moose Drool under lock-and-key.

Moose Drool Brown Ale

That is gorgeous. It's like going back in time....
