Labor equation for those curious.... I'm sure there are hard labor hours unaccounted for here, but this is a solid picture on the time involved.

Hours definitely not included in here: research, ordering, and negotiation.

This is greatly appreciated. You're going to have an amazingly clean truck. Ready for another 20-30 years!

Sweet baby Jesus! 😍

Will there be enough clearance on the exhaust pipe that hurdles the rear frame member? OEM is squished for a buffer zone....

I noticed that the other day. Time will tell if I'm removing the exhaust to flatten that section. Since the exhaust was completely rotted out, I had no choice other than full aftermarket.

Love the attention to detail! So what's the plan after restoration is completed?

Drive it till it needs this service again?!

Really just enjoy life outside, anywhere it’ll take me.

Are you going to keep it stock? Looking badass man. Congrats

For now, I am mostly interested in keeping it as stock as possible, to really understand and attempt to enjoy what engineers did then.

Because of the value of the 40th, this vehicle will likely stay mostly stock outside of a dual battery system and some interior outfitting for new age comforts like Double DIN radio, power for electricity in the rear (maybe a small fridge). Really minor things that don't affect the vehicle all that much.

If I really want to get silly and have fun wheeling... I don't have the heart to do it to this chassis now.

That'll require a beater where the family won't be vacationing in.

Absolutely amazing. Great you have the resources to be able to do this as I'm sure this will be more of a consideration as our trucks get older. Crazy to think of 400 hours **so far** not including cost of parts. Sounds like we're almost approaching 6 figures for someone without the resources to do a similar job.

Thank you for taking the time to post updates for us all.

This can be done for well under 6 figures, but can easily see the 6 figure number for mods + refurbish + rebuild.

Thanks for the encouragement.

Wise man recently reminded me that "sand gets everywhere"... pondered on that and decided to plug as much as I can to limit it.

As my first trip will hopefully be to finally drive on the beach.

Open to any comments anyone has on this.
