Not all Land Rovers are useless!
Whilst working on my 1994 HDJ80 connecting a new accessory to an additional fuse I fitted some years ago, I noticed the flasher unit looked a little out of shape. Removing the unit I found the casing had a hole in it! Given the area in the right hand footwell is full of wiring and other relays, this is clearly a fire risk.
Of note, there has been one or two underbonnet fires in 80's, the owners unable to put the fires out due to the bonnet cable melting within the casing causing it to seize. Note the bonnet cable runs very close to this possible fire zone.
Is this burnt flasher peculiar to my 80, I have no idea, but for the five minutes it takes to check.....................
Regards
Dave.
