my ps pully is narrow. my cruiser pulleys are wide.
also, my ps pulls is not small enough in my opinion.

does anyone have a vehicle make/model that gives a pulley to match
the width of a cruiser setup? what about smaller diameter then what
typically comes on the saginaw box?

I know it's not the thing to do but I used the smog pump pulley on my PS pump and have ran it for a year now without wrecking the pump. When it goes, I guess I will look for a Volvo. Who has ever seen a Volvo in Nevada? I spent months looking for a junkyard with a Saab and now you're telling me I have to find a Volvo. Any other suggestions?

I just ordered my Volvo 240 DL PS pump!!

I found them at "Volvo and SAAB Auto Dismantlers" in the yellow pages, 1.800.700.8658.

Volvo 240 DL '77-'84 internal reservoir PS pump with pulley, $25 + $15 shipping = $40 :D

90 day warranty :), no questions asked, he'll even send a call tag for shipping it back if you have to. They are in Sacremento, CA.

Super nice guy, said mine would ship today via UPS. I'm stoked!!

Jody.

that volvo pump is ok for the saginaw box eh?
is compatibility an issue?
i've never thought about this, but i guess as long as you can
send enough fluid to the box then any pump would do.

Try any bearing shop. I use a 3.5" pulley with a 5/8" bore with keyway. I can get the pump number from NAPA but I think it is late 60s era caddy. it has the keyway on it to keep the pulley from spinning. Pulley runs around $30

so if i get the volo pump will the pulley coming with it be the same width as the pulley on my 40's F?

That is the reason why people have suggested getting the Volvo pump, as it uses a wider belt and will work with the Land Cruiser belt.... ;)

Good luck!

Problem is they are REALLY PROUD of their pulleys. I bought a 240 pump(wasted) complete for $5, even had the mounting brackets...well adjusters anyway. Pressed the pulley off the Vulva pump and right on to my 80's GM pump. Most pulleys I checked into were $40-55...ouch! The Vulva pulley is correct width, but bigger in diameter...like about 4-4 1/2"...guessing, but have no issues with 4Skinner box and 31's.

Anybody tried the ManAFre billet pulley?

I think it only works with a keyway shaft, and mine was the tapered shaft. It is cool looking, though, too cool for under my hood. ;)

my ps pump is the keyed one, but i'm not about to drop $80 for a stupid pulley.

Doing a mini truck set up and I found a sag pump at a swap for $5. I don't know what it's from but seems real close in width to the cruiser pulleys. It has an allen type nut in the end that I can't budge. Anyone see this? how do these pulleys come off? ??? I thought they were pulled off but then what's that allen bolt for? Also, when mounting this at the air pump location, seems like it needs the adjuster at the top bolted to the thermostat housing, but I see alot of pics that don't show this top bracket. Can anyone help me sort this out?

I replaced one of the waterpump bolts with a stud, nut and lock to tighten the waterpump, then a nut, lockwasher, adjusting bracket, lock, then nut. Might work for you.
