So I finally got some sliders installed on my rig... Ya I know, I got a buncha other crap to work on for my rig, but the chance came up to get these suckers welded on, so I jumped on it. Thanks to Mikey B (mixmaster) for weldin' it all up for me.

The sliders and fender bars are Proffitts Cruisers . They are exactly what I had hoped for. Proffitt did all the bends and welded the main slider section together and then included three support bars for each slider and then we had to position everything all up and into place. It actually took quite a bit of work, but we got it done. Only took us two days...  When I purchased them, Proffitt offered to weld it all up for me for the small price of $50! Proffitts is about 4 hours or so from me, but considering I missed two days of work and drove 2 hours up and back to the shop space where we worked on it anyway, Proffitts offer was a fawkin' steal! Anyway, here's some quick pics. If ya wanna see somethin' else, let me know.

Ferg baby, looks awesome! Did you weld them to the frame? If so how are you going to get them off if you need to fix them? That bar to ARB looks tight and snazzy. Figured you'd use those clamps that are available for them.

Can I call up Proffit and get the same thing for my truck?

What about these Ferg?

Damn TB, don't show me that s*** AFTER I'm all done...   For me. Ya, those are what I had in mind the whole time I've been planning on installing the fender bars. I've seen plenty of rigs with them...I just didn't think you could buy them without the fender bars...and I didn't want to bother with trying to rig some other custom thing up. Oh well, it works.

And yup, welded to the frame. Just like my rear bumper... :D How to get them off if I need to fix them?--well, I just hope I never need to fix them. BTW, Proffitt said they can make them bolt on for just a wee bit more $$. I just didn't care to have them bolt on.

I'm sure you could call up Proffitts and get the same thing. Super good pricing if you ask me.

Hey Ferg, I was thinking about an attatchment for the slider like this:

You can see the triangulation at the attatchment point to the frame helps give the slider rigidity and keeps it from flexing up twords the body when you hit something with it. That and it is removable when damaged.

Just my thoughts.

Guys, the fit and finish of the 4x4Connection clamps is less than perfect and forces you to drill a hole through the ARB's tubing, which could lead to rust problems later. I like your solution, Ben, nice and clean!

I can't speak for the mounts above, but when I first got the Stirling ripoff of the ARB sidebars, I banged them on some big rocks up in NH and the u-bolted mounts slid on the frame, so I ended up welding them anyway. I then had to use a couple of extra sticks of tubing to reinforce the crap out of them, they're not a very good design.

I've considered redoing them, but what I really need to do is get motivated, wire-wheel them clean and then paint them. The ARB and the rear bumper I'm going to re-powdercoat, those are beyond help.

Those look very nice Ferg. I'm hoping to do something like this soon on mine thanks for the pics. By the way How much did Proffitt charge you? If U'r abble to say.

Nice truck brotha as soon as i put that clutch in that has been sitting around and take a break from helping a friend rebuild a 40 im gonna make a set :flipoff2:

...what is the wall dia? on those there them sliders you got?

hehe nice boogy welds :D

Some day I'm gonna make a trip out to the west coast and we'll have to wheel since our trucks look almost exactly the same except the color....got the same two tone paint job as well....

Thanks guys! BTW, I can't take credit for the fender bar to bullbar mount. The pieces were included with the fender bars from Proffitts. I am assuming we used them in the correct place... :D And it really isn't too bad, it was just a little tight to weld them to the fender bar and still have room for the nut to sit.

Jason - For some reason I can't see your pics... I couldn't see your pics in another thread a week or so ago either...

TB - Ya, I thought about bolt on like that u-bolt style, but my main reason for not wanting it like that was all the gas lines and electrical wires that run on the inner side of the frame on the passenger side of the truck. I just didn't want to have to deal with messing with them. If I were to have my sliders bolt on, I would weld some mounts to outer side of the frame and then bolt the sliders to the mounts. Good point though that Henry brought up about them sliding on the frame. That would suck.

Also, TB, I am planning on these suckers never having to come off! Really, I am hoping that any damage they sustain is not anything bad enough to require them coming off. :D

As for price, I don't much like pimping people's prices for them, but let's say I paid right around $400 for the sliders and fender bars, partially assembled and unpainted.

All I have to say is they ain't mine! :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

I have no idea the thickness of the tube. I trust proffitts gave me some good stuff though. I do know the outer diameter is 1.75".

For sure bring your junk out west. Give ya a taste of some real wheelin'.... :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

Those are great. They are almost exactly like mine but not bent yet. I found the tube style to be great up to a point but once it bent it continued to bend up. Nothing pretty about a fat man climbing out of the window!

I think HZJ 60 guy is on to a good idea with the triangulated supports.

It is no problem getting welded sliders off. Sawzall, dont ask me how I know.

here they are I'll post them in the message. sorry no big deal just afew extra steps i am just lazy that is all :o

Slee Sliders are also great; come ready to bolt on; took me and my bro 2 hrs (time is money) to bolt on and adjust; that included putting in the included shims for the brake lines. Heavy duty and tough as nails; Im very pleased with Slee.

Looking Good Ferg Daddy!

I am trying to figure out a way to tie mine into the frame without transmitting vibes to the body at the same time. Jason, i think we have the same FoxFab designed sliders. Are yours tied into the frame yet?

mine aren't tied into the frame at all they are just attached to the bottom of the rocker. I have bashed them pretty hard, pivoted on many trees and rocks too without any real issues. except my rock rings are getting dented and flat in some areas alittle paint and they are good to go. yours are just on the rocker as well aren't they? "I kind of like how the sliders aren't transmitting shock into the frame being that they are a rocker replacement. but I don't want to start the whole slider debate to each his own.
also less stuff to catch roccks under there.
