I finally got offroad for the first time today. I really didn't know what I was doing, so I think I took it really easy. Oh my god... I had a blast. I even got a wheel off the ground once or twice. I'm sure I pushed the truck to no where near its limit, but it really brought a smile to my face.

I've spent the last couple of hours checking out tires and rims so that I can get a more dedicated offroad set up.

I'm trying to get one or two of the pics that I took uploaded. I've never posted pics before so bear with me.

Here they are (I think):

Looks like fun man, great to see the FJCs out and playing. I was super impressed with them at Cruise Moab last may.

Judging from your pictures, you could have just been in 4 high lock..... :D No where near pushing your new Toy....

Keep it up man, it only gets better......

You will have lots of "There was this one time" comments after you've lived through all kinds of off road adventure. I have plenty of good memories wheeling with my 40 and pulling out stuck jeeps from axle deep mud.

Why, there was this one time my buddy was stuck in the mud to the axles in his jeep, and I backed the ol' Cruiser right into the goo and 3 feet from his front bumper, just to hand him the strap through my window...... "Dude, we're both stuck now" he says... I said "Yeah, sure. Hold on while I drag you out". To which I gently tugged forward in 4 Lo and 1st gear.... dragging that jeep out of the goo.. It was awesome :D The best part? It never stops being awesome!

There was only one time I guess I was a bit nervous. I had my sites pointed straight down the trail... yet I was "sidewinding" toward this rather large rock as if it had its own gravitational pull or something. I was getting a little ancy when I was about 5 feet or so from hitting it, but my tires finally bit and shot me off in the right direction. Oh well... nothing some MT or AT tires won't cure.

I really have the bug now. Spent the last couple hours looking for steelies and tires. More news to come later I hope...

With a vehicle like that, don't be afraid to stop. There are very few situations that you just cannot afford to stop so in your case, you might have just stopped and re-directed your vehicle. Airing down your tires will help tremendously, although I forsee a new set of Mud Tires in your future? I don't bother with All-Terrains, they have left me nearly stuck more than once. Mud Terrains will dig you out of just about anything.

Take it slow, and learn what your vehicle can and cannot do with those stock tires. Once you get some real meats on it, you will be amazed.

Have fun dude.

You will get addicted:bounce: , my first mistake was to not lower the tire pressure, sand and rocks, not needed if on standard fire roads but gives a smoother ride.

yeah nothing like having your whole left side 1" away from a masive rock/root and Robbie telling you to keep going down the same line.. I swear a sweat bullets. Dan Thanks for all the help spotting and the patience. you and robbie let me have my FJ back 1 one piece.

Word around is that I had both my rear wheels on the air. Hope some1 snatched a picture.

hehe, you did great!! I hope you didn't hate me coaching you too much, I just wanted to make sure you got out in one piece, and you did!!

Props to you for wheeling with a 6-speed, stock, with street tires in Tellico while it was raining...just speaks volumes to your driving AND to the FJC.

Great times!
