Thanks! WOuld you all recommned putting the sides and back on the cap first then putting the whole thing on the 40? Or put the everything together then putting the cap back on.....

I am guessing the second option.....

I just got done taking the top apart and putting it back together. From that i read about the people putting it back on in pieces some people has alignment issues with panels. I put it together then back on the truck and went good

Finally got the top back! Looks good. Now I have to do a little work on the underside. How do you get these off?

I'm going to clean up and paint the underside and outside and inside edge of the rain gutter. Should I use automotive paint with a preval sprayer or rattle can?

Any idea of what color of white?

One more thing. Do you remove the front visor to install the headliner or jus take it up to the visor? Does the headliner go under the visor?

The gutter should match your roof color.

The headliner covers the inside of the visor... Can't remember quite how far... But the visor isn't visible from inside the truck. The headliner doesn't come down the outside of the windshield frame.

Sorry, I don't have an answer to your questions. I'm just curious how much the resurfacing plus gel coat set you back.

You got it back from the guy who gel coated and you didn't post pictures?! For shame! I've heard of guys rhino-lining or monsta-lining it and it looks good. If you went through the trouble of gel-coating it why don't you install a headliner?

Without a headliner it will sound like a drum inside.

Never spent any real time in one with a headliner, must be nice. Without it's loud.

800.... Prolly could have got an aftermarket but shipping would've been a killer. I'll take some pics of finished surface. It's a smooth as a boat hull....

I just want to get it done so I can enjoy it.

I would put a headliner back in it. I got the one from SOR, and it fit nice

Yeah. I have a headliner. Just want to get the rain gutter painted. Since everything is apart I want to shoot the inner and outer edge of the gutter.

I am trying to decide if I am going to install the sor headliner myself or take it to a pro. Some things I just don't want to mess up!

For the gutter it doesn't really matter if you use rattle can or pro paint, it how you prep it that will make it last. Make sure you take care of any rust first. If you don't want to cut it out use a good rust inhibiting primer and then just find a top coat that will match the gelcoat (I doubt that the gel coat matches the original color).

Should be an easy job for a professional. Take it there if you are not comfortable putting it in yourself. Cost too much to mess up!

Using another nut to clean off the exposed threads is a super idea--never thought of that
I have removed those bolts with a offset boxed end wrench. I'm in AZ so not a expert on removing rusted bolts but when I am trying to remove them I use a little oil on them. If they break free I keep adding a little oil and then tighten, then loosen until I get them out. On bolts like the sides I use another nut to clean the exposed thread before trying to remove the bolt. Again using a little oil. Found the bolt will break free only to lockup and snap off after getting on the **** from expose thread into the fixed nut. I take it you are leaving the front door headers in place or did you take them to remove? On the rear header make sure you don't have another bolt on each side of the header that bolts to the end of the sides. I haven't done this in a while but I believe there are a couple of bolts that go into a flange off the header that bolt to the top of the sides. The drip rail has a larger hole so these do not have to be removed. But like I said there may be one that does need to be removed.

Please post pics of this process. I have my cap off and am getting ready to glass the edge, paint, and reinstall. Any pointers and pics will be greatly appreciated!

So ism still working on cleaning the rain gutter. There is hardly any rust. Here are some pics as it sits. I wonder if I should take it al the way down to the bare metal? I don't want to make the rivets come off though!!!
