New owner of an 09’ LX 570. 148k. We have noticed on 3-4 occasions that we will feel a slight bump or dip in the rear at a complete stop. Upon last check the ride height adjustment worked without problem. It is currently in N with the adjustment turned off but was on when the symptom was noticed. Thoughts?

I had similar symptoms on my old 4Runner when the rear axle seals started to leak diff oil all over the rear brakes. That caused the brake shoes to swell and stick against the drum. If that's the problem you're seeing, then you would see oil leaking down the insides of your rear brakes and rims (just need a flashlight to check out the back of the wheels). I imagine the same symptom could happen regardless of disc or drum brakes.

Thank you. No fluid that I can see on ground or near breaks.

Agreed, you'll want to grease your zerks. It's likely the previous owner or dealer has never even bothered.

If you're talking about the rear end auto-leveling at stops by dropping slightly, that's normal. It's not every occasion, but particularly if you're coming into a harder stop downhill. The system will sometimes auto-level depending on the situation. The front end might also, especially when really cranking the steering wheel while in place, as it tends to jack to front axle.

Ditto - in my case, however, we feel it every time we slow from over 65 to a stop light. The truck is lowered above 65 or so and then when you briskly stop, the system is trying to raise at the same time it is trying to level and it all comes to an end with a gentle final settling just as we stop.

Abrupt / Startling! That’s the feeling exactly! Ok feel much better about it now. Thanks for your input Teck and OneWorld!

No problem. BTW, I used to love floating and fishing in the Hiwassee. It such a prototypical East Tennessee mountain river - fast at the top and slow&easy at the bottom with everything in between.

I also noticed the slight dip here and there, but I always thought it is the auto leveling doing its job. I guess I have to grease my Zerks too :D
