SOOO Does anybody have a Minitruck rear bumper they need to get rid of?
Mike? in your pile of junk? Just need to put something on the back of a 92.. Would prefer a stock one someone is replacing.

Don't think a 1st gen bumper will work on a 92, unless you redo the mounts, cause the frame widths are different.

My pile of rust has been recycled.

I'll bring the MIG and a fresh spool of wire :grinpimp:

I have a spectrum analyzer that we can use to look at the signal from the antenna. Is it there if the truck isn't running?

Nope.

Kris - how much welding do you have planned?

zap some plates to the frame, 3 outriggers (each side), the outer tube (3 pieces, kick-outs front & rear), 4 mid tubes (each side) and lastly cap the 4 tubes. Think Bob's sliders on the mini.

It's all 2"x2"x.25" square tube. It sounds worse that it really is.

Chris what else do we need that I might have and bring.

Glenn

Glenn,

I'm pretty sure we are in good shape with tools. Are you interested in any projects while you are here? Let me know so we can make sure you are covered.

Thanks,

Chris

Ok, in that case it's probably coming from the truck's electrical system. spark plug wires, alternator, ECU all can cause interfernce. Did you run the cb power wire directly to the battery? Might need to install a filter.

Outer tube with kick outs can be made from one piece, just cut a notch, bend to the angle you want and weld the seam.

.25 wall? a little overkill, but ok if you dont mind the extra weight. I used 3/16 for the main tube and 1/8 for the outriggers.

No I was a slack ass when I put it in. I suppose it's not worth screwing with until I get a clean source of power?

Now that you mention it I recall a conversation we at the daylight savings run about notching the tube rather than a full cut. Dam I can be a dumbass :o sometimes. That would have been WAY easier than messing with miter cuts on a chop saw.

I scoured The Yard in Wichita and couldn't find .188" wall 2x2. For a brief moment I considered .120" but I'd rather have the .25" on such a heavy truck. I was a little upset  since I had done all my calculations based on .188" and the .25" adds ~45-50 lbs to the set vs. .188". If it weren't for the cheap prices I probably would have shopped elsewhere but for $3.15/ft I decided not to pass it up.

Probably not. You would wind up doing a lot of work and adding stuff that might not be needed.

I actually think that you could get away with .120 wall, but it would depend on how you install it and what type of wheeling you intend to do with the rig. The thinner tube will probably protect the body, but may suffer damage and need to be replaced at some point.

Just realized that I have to take the dog to the vet in the morning, so I won't be there until around 10 or so.

So where 'bouts are we supposed to be going? Chris PM me your addy. Thanks.

Check post 10 - NE Corner of South Avenue & Weaver Street on the east side of town. For those coming from Wichita, stay on I-35 north bound and get off at the 4th exit - 6th / Hwy 50. It is a mess at the toll plaza right now.

Thanks to everyone who was able to make it this weekend. Our crew was a little smaller this year, but we did manage to get a few projects knocked out.

Erik C. and Sage A. finished parting out the topless mini-truck.

Kris' sliders are welded up - just need to be painted and welded on (Mike C - yer up!).

My driver's side slider is ready for prep, passenger side (go figure) is about 50% done - supports are tacked up, working on cat protection - thanks to Bob C. for the suggestions.

Thanks also to Glen P. who had the "enjoyable" task of cutting off an aftermarket hitch which some PO had welded to the frame.

I'm a dig'n out the media blaster now to get 'em stripped and painted :hillbilly:

Wish I could a made the trip..... if nothing else but to eat pizza and drink beer :flipoff2: I actually bought a fresh spool of .030 wire and a 25' extension cord for the welder for this gig.......

A big thank you to Chris and Craig for helping me out this weekend!!

Mike,
I'm holding your parts for ransom :D
