does anyone know what the original backspacing off the factory toyota wheels was on these first gen 4runners (the aluminum ones with the "x" style pattern)?

i bought my truck with these chrome steelies on it. i think they came of a fj60/62. they look the same at least.
otherwise i would just measure.

see, i found a 91 fj80 landcruiser with the same "x" style factory alulminum wheels and I want to know if they will fit and how much they might stick out if the back spacing is different.

found this on the 80 section to compare with. dont know if its right:
Stock 91/92 rims are 15x7; 4.5" BS.
Earlier Cruisers (40, 60, 62) are 3.5" BS.

The wheels you have now came on the SR5 solid axle trucks. The alloy SR5 wheels came out on the IFS trucks in '86, I have two sets here, they have ~4.75" BS. Be aware that the BS changed on the next generation trucks, I believe they have slightly deeper BS.

so klf, when you say "next generation", are you saying that the 91 land cruiser wheels likely have 4.75 " backspacing, or the wheels off say a 90s 4runner?

are you sure that my wheels are from a solid axle truck? here is a link to another thread of mine where you can see 'em. third pic down.

if mine arent the 60 wheels, then i wonder what the backspacing of my wheels is ? if its about 3.5 like i thought, then the 4.5" back spacing factory wheels should sit further into the wheel wells of the 4runner by and inch.

but i thought i saw someone on here running the land cruiser wheels on a 1st gen 4runner and they said they stuck out of the wheel wells just a touch, kind of like what i have now??:meh:

Wait: i may have confused myself. so, if the original wheels from toyota are supposed to be 4.75" BS and the 91-92ish land cruiser wheels are 4.5" BS then they should stick out a little. maybe not as much as i have now, but those arent supposed to be on there anyhow, correct??

Had your exact same wheels on my 1983 SR5 pickup truck. So KLF is right, those are solid axle truck wheels.

I bought a set of these and the bs is definately different. Mine came off of an 80 and they stick out about an inch further per side on my 1st gen 4Runner. I really like the wider stance with a factory look. I know its wider bc i had the exact same set on another 1st gen and they did not stick out as far. I can get a pic as soon as it gets back from the shop.

The solid axle trucks had a narrower axle than the IFS trucks, so the rims had different backspacing... IFS rims on a solid axle truck equals skinny track width (This sometimes won't work...). Solid axle rims on an IFS truck equals wide track width.
