I need a two gallon barrel shaped cooler that can survive occasional rough handling. The cheap
jugs sold in stores like Walmart have flimsy screw-on lids.

Target has a one gallon jug made by Bubba Brands. It looks good, not great. Unfortunately,
they do not make a two gallon model.

I've wasted money on coolers that were suppose to be rugged. Two or three hard knocks and
the threaded lids leaked forever. I need help finding one that will survive unscathed if it's
dropped a few feet onto a hard surface. Weight doesn't matter. It won't be carried over long
distances.

Thanks sdnative.

My business is electronics related. Years ago I regularly attended military surplus auctions.
If you were careful it was possible to buy stuff that cost us taxpayers many thousands for
pennies on the dollar!

When I was searching for a rugged cooler, I immediately thought about products that are
military grade or "mil-spec." Those Sceptar cans are definitely built tough, but I still need
a basic insulated cooler with a high quality threaded lid that won't leak.

How about the Igloo yellow and red 2, 3 or 5 gallon cooler line? I see them strapped to the outside of utility service vehicles. Plus you can get the cup holders, heavy duty mounts, etc. to add to them.

It's nearly July, next time you see any road construction crew go look in the back of their trucks and then ask them where they got them. Those guys have good cheap coolers in the back of every truck. That igloo one above is a good start

msr dromedaries are the beez knees........comes in 20liter(largest size) and have all sorts of spigot attachments for dispensing water like water cooler to a shower if u leave it in the sun to warm up. I have 6 for trips and they are good size for storing in footwells / smaller places unlike jugs which are always in the way. i roll into camp and hang it on a broken tree limb for easy dispensing- washing dishes- etc.

u can run em over and they wont explode so durability is unquestionably tough

I used a small Gott water cooler when I was roofing down in Vegas back on the 70's. It had a screw lid but it was tough. It survived being tossed off roofs, banging around in the bed of my truck and other insults.
