well normally i don't reply to threads because i'm a slacker. this is one of the few times where i can honestly say i've been working my ass off and haven't had time. (although i did manage to sneak in a Neil Young concert in Boise, 10th row, 2k seat venue. awesome) the truck is almost ready. should be done tomorrow after i slap on the 6 new Toyo's i received from a recently added sponsor. :bounce::bounce2::beer:. todd you and onur are correct. well at least i hope so. once i can figure out to spend someone else money, or make my own along the way, i'll keep going until i run out. might be 10months, might be 10 years. who knows. a few random pics of the stickers and rack. once i get on the road and have time to sit in front of a pc for more than 10mins a day i'll be building a truck spec page on my site.

yes my friend has goats. added some new speakers to increase the aural quality of my trip.

Grolar:
Dont let the kids put you off. I had my 8th birthday in the back of a white FJ60 overlanding across australia, best thing my dad ever did for me. You have less room for gear, but a family of four CAN do it :)

Now Im 22 and in Costa Rica, ALSO on my way to Argentina from Canada with my girlfriend. DMC, drop me a PM when you get down south (I have no phone) and lets convoy or have a beer or something! You are so much better prepared than we are... we`re rushing fast as we can to Ecuador in our hammered-together BJ62, which has pulled us through with nothing but gusto so far. With a 27 year old engine (3b) the only complaint my beloved cruiser has given me is with the home-made power steering setup, which will be easy to replace here in Costa Rica (cruiser mecca?).

Sorry if this is a bit of a hijack, but for those interested please feel free to check out my rarely updated trip log also at www.wanderinglost.com (only really works in firefox because I suck at ajax). Would love to get in touch DMC, it would be awesome to hook up with a fellow overlander and cruiserhead down south here.
Thanks a bunch to the awesome mudders who have helped me on my way so far!

i'll let you know as i progress. i'm sure i'll be a few months behind you but once i get to SA i'll send you a PM. you figured out your shipping yet? that has been my largest hurdle. online research has been very frustrating.

It looks naked without all your stickers on the windows. It must have taken hours to get them all off. Forget the goats, Ryan looks way to excited with that dog.

about 90 mins actually. yeah she looks much cleaner.

Well I've read the posts but I can't find the type... WHAT roof rack is that??
airlaird

That is a MULE Expedition Equipment rack, we sponsored Dave for his trip, he will be completely testing this rack over the next 10 months or so and supplying feedback. This will become the new industry standard in expedition racks, the true beauty of this rack is function, and that is not revealed in these photos. This rack has a Patent Pending innovation that has yet to be executed by anyone. I will not give any promissory dates, but it will be available in the very near future!

More information will be available as Dave's expedition progresses!

All the best Dave, I wish you well on your trip.

Kaleb! Good to see you are still around, I hope all goes well with your rack, Nothing like real world testing!

looks better without all the windows stickers IMO - less Nascar fan-ish ;-)

except for hippies like me would get heckled out of most nascar races. definitely has a different feel to the truck for sure.

Kaleb has already posted up that Mule is indeed sponsoring me. once i get a chance to post up some pics and reviews (all my computer time will come when i finally have a chance to relax in the tent and stop running ragged getting ready to go) i think you will be impressed. i spent 20min up there moving stuff around trying to get organized. the adjustibility of the rack is awesome. i'll get some pics up in the next week or so. my departure got pushed back a day so tuesday i'll head out on the road.

From an evil French needing to be educated about Cruisers :D... All the best. Didn't see any updates on your blog, I'm glad I checked here.

I saw the Mule rack Tuesday night in person. It is awesome. It is definitely the best rack I've ever seen. Lots of really cool features. There were some returning SEMA FJ Cruiser guys ooogling it too. I still can't figure out how they ended up in Idaho from SEMA going to WA state. Must be interstate only travelers.

Dave's truck looks the best it has in years. I think he washed it and waxed it and his sponsor stickers look really great in the matte finish on the 40th paint.
