Nice.

TJDIV you are one funny guy LOL, nice to see some humour.

I use to like reading BJ on Roids replies when he use to visit the POR board and here.

Hes a moderator on the Outerlimits and spends most of his time over there taking care of the natives.

Was this in Amado, Arizona? South of Tucson?

because if it was I saw that vehicle last Saturday. My husband and I commented on the physically good condition it seemed to be in as we drove by.

Yep rt, thats the one.

Looking at maybe flying down to pick it up and have a better look. Only down side is the 1800 miles plus one ferry trip back, thats one long haul.

Shipping it on a flat bed would be cheaper in the long run.,

I have never been past San Fran and would enjoy making the trip and dropping in at a couple of the local shops on the way.

Maybe even drop by Johns (landpimp) house and view his new LV DROOOOOOL.....

My wife even gave me a week pass if I wanted to hang out and see the sights, take my time driving back.

Rob are you signed up for the Cruiser Assistance Club?
http://www.ih8mud.com/cruiserassistanceclub.php

If you end up driving back the CAC list will give a little more comfort. There are a lot of fellow Cruiser signed up along your way home.

Sedona is a great place to visit on your way back. Take DD up on it.

I encourage all you fawks out there to sign up for the CAC so I’ll have someone to help when my s***z breaks away from home.

Congrats!

I have just finished two road trips: one to the coast of the Olympic Penninsular and one to British Columbia. We drove my 55 on both trips. You would not beleive how many people stare, honk, wave, roll-down-the-window-and-yell-something etc when I drive the 55 around. It really got noticed in Canada. I get more such response in the 55 than when I drive my FJ40. Owning a 55 can be a bitch at times because some stuff is hard to find, but overall it is great fun. There is something so unmatched in a cared for, lifted FJ55. Good luck with yours!

Some pictures of my 55 can be found here:

Pig stuff

Thanks!

The main problem with 55's is the nearly hard to get stuff. The biggest hassle is rubber. The rubber around the tailgate, the rubber around the doors and windows are very hard to find. The tailgate is also an issue. Spend some time with yours and learn how it works and get it running well. Most of the problems with the tailgate motor is easy. Usually it is the plastic gear that is still available for under $30. The rest of the 55 is the same as the FJ40: motor, axles, runner gear etc is all the same as the 40. The 55 has much more in common with the FJ40 than it does with the FJ60. In a way I think of the 55 as a compromise between the 60 and the 40. . If you can, keep all the body panels intact. Lots of guys take a 55 and turn it into a buggy. That's a shame, there are lots of rigs better suited to that course of action. A 55 with rocker and quarter panel protection, lower gearing, lockers and power steering is a formidable rig on the trail and a great rig for exploration, camping, dogs, hiking, kayaking etc. There is so much more room in a 55 when compared to a 40 and no carpet to worry about like a 60 has. Some trails the longer wheelbase is better than the 40 as well. It depends on where you live. I live in the PNW and like to wheel on on the very tight trails we have here. Trees and tight twisty trails are the deal here, not going slow over huge rocks. For that reason I got a 40 that I built as my primary trail rig. I am glad I did because I can pick and choose where I decide to take my 55, thus better preserving that rare sheet metal...
