I have a 1976 engine and trans I installed in a 67 FJ40. When I went to to turn it over to get to TDC to install the the distro it will not turn by hand. Rocked back and forth in gear and it won't budge. Won't could I have installed incorrectly to cause such an apparent bind up?

Was the engine open for a long period of time? Did it get moisture inside and rust the rings to the cylinder walls?

Is the timing really far off? Have you tried turning it with the plugs out?

Parking brake on?

What has changed since it was last able to rotate? Need quite a bit more information.....

Did it rotate, by hand, before?

Have you added belts and tensioned them?

Is the 2F newly rebuilt? Maybe rings not seated and hanging on the cylinder walls.

Are all rods connected fully? None broken?

Did you squirt oil in the cylinders?

Pull the spark plugs, squirt a few drops of oil and try rotating it, with the plugs out, to see if it’s a combination of compression and belts.
