Engine paint scheme...what do you think?

simple

Definitely not my cup of tea, but the quality looks good.

BTW - how did you choose which parts were painted?

The stuff that was already large, and silver, got done in silver hammerite. The stuff that was black, or dull colored got powder coated orange.

Please, the pics are way too bright. Definitely a UT Horns fan.

Perhaps he is a UT Volunteer Fan...it is definitely bright, just think during hunting season you can just pop your hood while you are in the woods to avoid getting shot at, maybe a unique safety feature.

x4

Reminds me of what Steve-O at MAF did for his GF's truck engine - purple.

Different strokes. Not on my engine, but I don't have to live with it.

About the orange...

I met Jim Reiss when he lived in Southlake. At that time he had a white 80, and a pumkin orange 40. The 40 looked really cool, and the paint job was very well done. It just stuck in my mind, and when I thought about powder coating all those parts I was originally thinking Harley-Davidson orange. That actual color looked too dull, so when I saw pumkin on some of their sample peices, Jim's 40 came to mind.

I may decide to do some other Harley logos here and there, and the difference in the color is not noticable. (unless I open my hood while parked by an orange Harley)

I'm also working on a fiber glass 40 mini-front end to put on my Kubota mower. We'll see how the 80 comes along first.

Minus the air cleaner, I love it...I vote the air cleaner get retreated with silver to match the rest of the engine.

The HGTV designer in me seconds this motion. I would also vote that the duct on top of the canister revert to black to match the rubber intake tube. Maybe a two tone air cleaner with the top of the can pumpkin and the bottom silver.

Jam, thanks, but I like the orange.

I feel you BHM. I can never see that logo without thinking of Forest Gump.

The addition of a Lexan hood would be quite interesting. Showing off the goods!

I think not...Are you a big fan of the movie, Grease, by any chance?
