Yea I think its time to replace it. I have a new one sitting in my garage just dreading the work as it seems like a PITA. is there a write up on here for the replacement?

Other than the service manual, I don't know of one..... but I'll bet somebody here has documented it. One thing to be conscious of is that all the connectors will be brittle from age and heat, so be sure to properly and carefully disconnect them. If you feel the need, it doesn't hurt to take pics of things as you disassemble so that you ran refer back to them when it's install time. Cheapie digital cameras or phones work great here.
I'm pretty sure I pulled the throttle body when I did mine, but that's about all. All the stuff on the firewall can be moved out of the way just by removing fasteners, no disconnection heater hoses was required, but keep in mind I ran mine over the top of the engine in front of the throttle body and attached it to other existing brackets so I wouldn't have to stick it next to the EGR any more, or tuck it back behind the cylinder head. It may not be super pretty, but it's cool.
I also seem to remember disconnecting it at the PCM first, then pulling it through the firewall and out from under all the heater hoses and control valves before I even started disconnecting from the engine.

everyone says the harness goes so close to the EGR... is it different for the 93? Mine goes up above the valve cover, as far as I can see it doesnt get close to the EGR.

Stuck on this same problem (for over a year now). Video Here.

Here's the scenario: 285k miles. New motor at 198K (10 years ago). Trans was never an issue.
I can manually shift it down to 2nd, and it does, no shudder. In Drive, any kind of incline or pedal and it feels like it's coming apart.
New Kickdown cable. Also, I've adjusted the kickdown per FSM, tried all the way to both ends and everywhere in between. Seems to change the shudder a little.. but never goes away.
Replaced Solenoids.
New Filters, New gaskets. New Fluid. Flushed, new fluid again.
Replaced Valve body.
Fixed some charred wiring when I replaced the motor. Been wrapped with heat wrap since, all still looks good from the outside. no probems in almost 100k miles.
Manually shifting it does fine. Shifts great.
U-joints look good. Doesn't really do it, except when starting off under a load. All other gears seem good to go.

I'm blaming any hair loss I have on this truck.. don't get me started on the AC system in my 60. Any ideas would be very much appreciated.
