I picked up the used MT45 from CL yesterday. The seller was cool enough to hold it for me till today.

The seller said it was not working and Engel over the phone told him it was the compressor and Engel wanted $375 to overhaul the unit except the power supply. He had it running for 7-8 years in freeze mode off 110V. Anyways i brought it home and disassembled it and cleaned up the fan and the dust. I checked the fuse and plugged it into the 110V outlet and no go, no light or noise. I grabbed the 12V plug that wasn't used in a long time and plugged it into the car. It WORKS!!!!! I set the temp before freeze and it at 40 degrees right now.

Edit, it quickly got down to 6 degress set on freeze mode.

The best part is i scored it for $50 bucks. Its a bit rough, used on a boat for 7-8 years. i'm suprised that it doesn't have much rust especially on the bottom. Only surface rust on the small scratches.

Has anyone else's stopped working on 110V power. I will try to swap cords with a computer and see if that works. My Ohm meter is not working to test the cable.

Wow I'm jealous! Nice find

Thanks, I'm super stoked. I figured I would buy it and try to tinker with it. I didn't think the compressor would be bad since they are pretty reliable. I figured it was maybe the power supply. If it was too bad I figured I could either send it to Engel or just part it out. These things are super quiet. I forgot to install the small cooling fan and started it up. Once I installed the fan, that was where most noise came from.

I just have figure out why it wont turn on with 110V power. Hopefully the cord is bad. I try it out at Surf and Turf next week.

Auto correct is joke. Don't use any cables except Engle brands they are fused specifically for the freezer.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm using the factory 12V plug right now. I tried using another computer cable for the 110V. It didn't work.

I think the power supply for the 110V must be toast. I wondering if there is a way to make a new one from parts. One of the guys on Expo forum mentioned he modafied a power supply to replace his burnt out one. He mentioned Engel wanted $270 for a new one.

10 Amp automatic lead acid battery charger, plus lead acid battery, plus 12VDC power outlet, and some wiring should be cheaper than $270. ;)

You can also run it off an external AC/DC converter. You'll need one that can supply ~4 amps. That's what I do since my particular model Waeco doesn't have an internal converter... and actually I like it that way.

Wow - I thought I got a deal one a 1 one yr old one that was never used. It came with transit and lock for CAN$750.r

Screaming deal. Have had mine for about 4 years and wouldn't give it up for anything. Rugged as hell and keeps beer icy even in the Texas heat. Congrats - great score!
