I have a 69 body, 77 frame and SBC with a challenging wiring job. I don't know how much of the FSM wiring is even relevant but have a problem. Part of the wiring on the passenger side passing close to the battery flopped on to the exhaust manifold while I was driving it today and lost all power. I pulled it off apparently before too much damage was done because it started back up and I could drive it home.

Lights and turn signals are still working. There are some problems though which may be limited to power to the dash wiring. All the lights and gauges are dead, the dash lights do go on when I press the brakes though.

Here's what I'd like to know: Is there a connector in that vicinity that has a total of 6 wires going to it, probably 4 on one side and 2 on the other? Judging by the puddle of plastic on the manifold I suspect there was a connector of some sort.

Oh yeah, I h8wiring! :bang:

It might be possible to look up a connector on Vintage Connections website. They will have it. Or, just splice them together with butt splice connectors or spade connectors. Hope that helps!:wrench:

Thanks Brian, I'll be taking a fresh look at it today. After getting it home I just walked away not wanting to deal with it. It may be as simple as splicing the melted wires if I can determine what is supposed to connect to what.

I made the leap that something very hard to fix happened which it wasn't. I spliced the wires back and all's fine. Took the opportunity to clean up a lot of crappy wiring so it's better than before the meltdown. A few more hours and I'll have it where it should be.

Thanks for your comments.

Why? for most 70's vintage fj40/55 cruisers the haynes manual is pretty accurate wiring wise.

I had a Haynes manual but it cannot hold a candle to the OEM manual. I have the OEM wiring diagram for my '76 and it has everything on it. Not so with the Haynes.
