Can somebody help me figure out where to source these? I need to repair this connector that is behind the driver's side cargo area panel. It is for the cargo area dome light. The plastic parts are OK, but the spade part broke, so I'd like to just figure out where to get a new male side, but, Its likely I'll have to do more of these in the future as well. Might as well order up a whole kit of parts/pieces to do future repairs.
You can buy the originals (usually Yazaki or Sumitomo) from somewhere like Corsa Technic. Those are 250 (6.3) type, non waterproof. You can also buy them in bulk from Aliexpress for much less. I'm all for keeping things original, but I have to say that side by side and when crimping, there is virtually no difference - the Chinese terminals are great quality.
Get yourself a decent crimping tool. Again, the Chinese versions are decent. I have five different crimp tools for everything from tiny 0.3 mm2 wire (something like 26 AWG) up to 150 A battery terminals and they are all good quality. You can buy jaws for a few dollars to do e.g. flag terminals or plain splice pieces.
A note on nomenclature. The connector is the plastic housing, the metal piece is the terminal. In Toyota speak, the gender of the connector is the gender of the terminal used, so your broken terminal and loose connector are both male.
Hey, that's great. Thanks. The connectors and terminals are pretty cheap but the shipping and tariffs are pretty steep. Are they on your site for ordering or do I just pm you with what I need?
