Does anybody know what these large black wires with brown stripes are for? 96 80 under the steering wheel on the right hand side. A glance through the wiring diagrams doesn't net anything right off the bat, but I'll look into it more.

Thanks

Looks like the ignition connector to me.

This is info I dug up for my 94, not sure if it's the same, but it looks to be (stolen from my car alarm thread -> https://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-tech/689936-how-install-aftermarket-alarm-1994-a.html )

If you have a 10-position connector, here's the pinout (this would be "key side")

Pin # Wire Color Function
---------------------------------
1 Green/White
2 Brown IGN2
3 Brown +12V
4 Brown/White IGN2
5 Green/White
6 Black/Yellow IGN/ON
7 Blue/Red ACC
8 n/c
9 Black/Red +12V
10 Black/White Start

If you look at the other side ("car side") of the connector, the wire colors are different.

Pin # Wire Color Function
---------------------------------
1 Green/White
2 Black/Red IGN2
3 White/Red +12V
4 Black/Green IGN2
5 White/Black
6 Black/Yellow IGN/ON
7 Blue/Red ACC
8 n/c
9 Black +12V
10 Black/White Start

Cool, thanks. Looks like Toyota made some changes between 94 and 96. My pinout colors are quite different. I agree though it should be some kind of ignition connector. It is an 11-pin connector, 4 on top, 7 on bottom. One of the large (B-R) wires should be constant 12V, one should be ACC 12V, and the other should be IGN/ON 12V.

EDIT: Found it in the wiring diagrams. It's the I12 ignition switch connector.
