The bodywork bonanza continues…..

Just a WEE crushed

Cut the spot welds, several had graciously let go during the rollover saving me the effort 🤣

All that’s left of the poor original inner sill. Need it for a template now

Onto the rockers. Both the outer and inner.

Cut the braces out because they need to become templates. The sandwiched metal Toyota rust phenomenon is… 🤢

And this tub has been stored inside, dry, over 25 years

Driver side is zipped off here

Passenger side. WAY worse. Ed believes he mistakenly left a can of muriatic acid next to it which actually ate this hole right through the rocker

These cuts are “rough” with a sawzall. I’ve got a very precision line scribed on it which I’ll clean up to later

And oddly, found this wood jammed inside the driver side rocker. Only way it could get in was when the hardtop was off, down through the round hole in the “B” post

Pulled the tub outside and spot blasted all the seams we opened up. That layered rust is ridiculously hard

Rocker before

After blasting the seam

Driver side fender seam. This is at least clean enough to start welding on and reassembly

Gross. Thankfully I’m up to date on tetanus

Removing this inner fender was quite literally the definition of “not fun”

Not sure what year this donor piece is/was but it had much larger supports in the under fender well area and Toyota had clearly upgraded their spot weld machine. SO much harder to get it separated than the ‘69 tub
