My buddy has a 82 Mini and he wants to put an edelbrock carb on it. Do you guys know of any place that sells an adapter plate for the 22r so he could bolt on an edelbrock?

I don't think there is an adapter out there, but I believe offenhauser used to make an intake for a regular 4bbl squarebore carb for a 22R. Personally I would go with a weber 2bbl if I wanted to get rid of the stock carb. Unless it's a really healthy 22R a 4BBL is probably going to drown it.

I had a friend that built a 22R years ago for his 85. He used a crane cam, shaved 20R head, bored it .40 over, installed a different advance spring in the distributor, and ran a downey header with a custom exhaust. He used the stock 20R intake with an adapter plate and a 32/36 weber. The mildy hopped up 22R was really pretty powerful compared to a stock one.

Howdy! I agree that any 4barrel is way too much for a 20/22r engine, even if it is souped up. I run a 500 cfm Carterbrock on my 350 and it is good past 4000 rpm. It is old and tired and setup for low end. John

What ever carb you do, invest in a carb tool. I put a weber on a 100 vac line Honda and tried to set it the way they suggested, by watching the tach  but it never happened, I later found out the carb tools are very inexpensive.

Lots of story's out there about people putting carb$ on and them not running right, theres more to it than just slapping one on.

If you must run a 4brl i'd run the 390 holley with all the offroad stuff in it.
If he wants trick that works good go for dual side drafts, thats the s***!

For best offroad results, stick with the stock carb.

I seem to remember from the webber thread that the 38 is a little large for the 22R... and you have to really downsize the jets and such... It's been a while since I read it though....
Howdy! Yea, I'd go for the 32, as the 36 is the one that is popular to put on the F and 2F engines ( 4 liter) in the FJ40's. John
