Interested in two. Plan on keeping the stock one on ones I keeping original. On the one that are not it's doesn't hurt to improve safety things

Sorry guys I've been home 2 days in the last three weeks. This is not close to the top of my list right now. I'll try to make time soon.

Dom

Thanks for getting back to us. I understand about having a list. I'm in no big hurry. Just wanted to get on the list.

x2

My rear view mirrors haven't worked right for 45 years or so. Another little while definitely ain't going to hurt a thing.

Whenever it's convenient, Dom, and thanks for grabbing the bull by the horns on this one.

Yo Dom... I think you might have yourself on ignore?

Every time I look in the rear view mirror now I think of you. You still tied up?

How do I put myself on "ignore"? I'd like that!

Trying to get on this guys. Sent one out to Bear today and will try to get to a few more.

After talking to Pat we figured we'll just try to cover the costs incurred on these so $15 each + it was $2 to ship via USPS. These are bare metal, not primered, not painted, not chromed, not shiny and in fact have gathered a little surface rust from being by the beach but I'm wire wheeling them and wiping them with a small amount of WD-40 before shipping out.

I'm just trying to help out the community on these and am donating my time of all the legwork and effort to ship these and Pat used up a favor from one of his customers to have them done. Hope you guys like these and if you don't, just send them back and I'll refund your money. I have no serious money invested in the project and they can all sit in a box in the garage if they don't work out for anyone.

You can pay via paypal (domsmith@cox.net), check, cash, cashiers check, whatever. Just don't burn me please.

any chance of throwing a mirror on one of them? I don't have anything right now, just the holes in my window frame.

Sorry no extra mirrors here. I'm in fact in the market for a better one than I have as mine is quite cloudy...

I rec'd mine and mounted 'em up, Dom. Love 'em and am shocked that for going on 50 years nobody's been able to see jack out the back windows.

I can now for sure.

When I look in the mirror I see about 1/2 and 1/2. The view in the upper 1/2 of the mirror is the back of the upper cab. The view in the lower 1/2 of the mirror is a perfectly straight shot out the rear windows. I'm not sure I'd be a big fan of the *look* of a bracket that were longer but I'm guessing that if it were about 3/4" longer it'd be about perfect for me.

For reference, the truck I installed this in is a '63 FJ45SWB Fixed Cab and the seats have been reupholstered and shimmed up as high as they can go without having the wheel rub on my thighs. I'm about 5'11" and I'd guess that anybody taller in a fixed cab would have way bigger problems than not being able to see out the back. They definitely built the fixed cab with a pretty compact driver in mind.

I really appreciate your taking the initiative to experiment with mirror height and the brackets are beautiful. If you make another run of them sometime and have the option of having a couple of them cut out that are maybe 3/4" longer...

I'd buy 'em, sure.

Thanks again. Xlnt job recreating these to mimic the originals, too.

Mike-

Thanks for the input. I did put some time into trying to make them functional and remain as short as possible to retain a close to stock look. I can definitely see how some might prefer a little longer bracket. I'm 5'10 with newly redone seats adjusted all the way back in a 65 SWB removable top and it's basically just right. Any change of that equation and I think it may throw things off a bit.

If I do have another run of brackets made it could be done using a longer template. I don't plan on that anytime soon but if I do I will solicit for more input as to what size people would like.

mirror bracket

paypal sent for $17. Thanks, Steve

I am all for a new mirror.

The silver on mine is degrading so a new or at least compatible mirror would be nice. Thankfully I am tall enough that it never did occur to me to have a longer bracket.

I have received a few requests to make another batch of these. I'm going to stick with the original design unless those that got part of the first batch have any suggested improvements. I know legion would like 3/4" longer so I can see about making a few of those too if people prefer but I can't guarantee it.

These will be the same price as before $15 each +$2 to ship. Making zero dollars on these, just trying to help the cause.

Please let me know if you are interested so we know how many to run.

HA! I was thinking that the whole time. Maybe the other guys need to sit on a phone book or two :D
