Alright guys so…here’s the issue:

On Dumpie the 1F engine won’t turn over.

When we stuck a bore scope down the cylinders no visible rust was present.

We’ve tried turning the nut on the front of the engine with a breaker bar.

Soaked the pistons for 3 weeks with a 50/50 solution of ABF and diesel and pumped out the mixture.

We took the valve cover off and verified all the valves are moving freely with a couple light taps from a dead blow hammer.

We’ve put the transfer case in low and high, locked the hubs and engaged the 4 wheel drive using a home made adapter and shop vac. For those of you wondering it’s the hose closest to the firewall that engages the four wheel drive. We know this worked as the front driveshaft locked up.

We hooked a truck to it and pulled it forward to try and get the 45 to use the mechanical advantage of the gears (in 1st and L in 4 wheel drive) to turn the engine over. It squats the front end and proceeds to drag all 4 tires. The PTO shifter is disengaged.

So…here’s our question:
If we leave it in first gear and pull it backwards will it actually spin the motor backwards?

Feel free to make any suggestions you deem appropriate after reading through what we’ve already done.
