The system is very complex and retro-fitting it would be a significant challenge. you have a different valance panel, nozzles, check valves, reservoir, pump, relay, plumbing, and so-on.

In other words there would indeed be "much modification" in order to pull it off.

electrical issues wouldn't phase me, I'd rig it up with a direct switch anyway... just more worried about the size/shape/location of the individual components. if they would physically fit, the challenge of putting it all together and making it work is my idea of fun
