Howdy! There are a lot of them running around Phoenix. Some were campers, but most are just work trucks, some with utility beds, and some with just flat beds. Never imported as 4x4 as far as I know, but I really wonder if the rear axle would be good for hard core wheeling. John

you do know theres another thread up right?

eBay #320094879530 – 1978 Toyota Hi Lux Pickup Custom Dually Crew Cab. Number of Bids: 16. 24 photos. Location: Mason City, Iowa. Manual transmission. Mileage: 83,735. Red/black. This truck was a real oddball to inspire some 70s nostalgia. Apparently it was a professional conversion done in the U.S., using the original 20R inline 4-cylinder. Body in good shape with good paint, with the exception of a dent on the drivers’ side front fender. Some surface rust. Interior has worn out carpets and generally looks a bit used. Everything works; 83k original miles. SOLD AT: $2,550. Date: 3/29/07.

they are listed as 3/4 ton trucks as the suspension is still lacking, and they were all 2wd. But the rear axle is a popular mod for our minitrucks as it had a fully floated rear axle, as opposed to our half float rears making them just a bit beefier and less prone to axle snapping. (not that rear axles are a big week point on our rigs anyway) but it is a good mod, never seen anyone actually keep the dualy wheels on em tho theyr always swapped back to single rim.

You outta try and find a tailight or any other part for one of those years trucks IMPOSSIBLE around here. My first toyota was just like above less the dually and cab of course. It took one hell of a lickin' and kept on tickin'. Neat to see one of those again. Mine was babys*** brown as I called it aka mustard yellow. funny how much I hated the color back then and now over the years considered painting my 40 the same old babys*** brown...
