Like title says, pulled the rocker panel plugs and a ton of water came out. I could hear it
sloshing from inside the cab. Any Idea on the source?

I've had it onm both side. Near as I can tell it's coming from the windshield. Drill open the factory drain holes and clear out the vents on the underbody side with a wire tie.

It comes from the sunroof. That is where the sunroof drains go to. I just leave the plugs out so water doesn't build up and cause it to rust out.

like old#7 said... just pull out one of the plastic plugs. i pulled out the front one on each side as my truck sits a little higher in the rear.

I thought the front sunroof drains ran down and out the pinch weld holes in the front....?

Ive been trying to track my leaking also, only happens during hard rains and of course not when i use the hose to find it. One day after the rain i opened the driver door and the water came out, seemed to be pooling between the door seal and floor pan, thoughts?

IIRC the front sunroof drains drain down into the rocker panels, the rear drains drain out the pinch welds.

On the early FZJ (mine is a 1993) the front drains are also at the pinch welds. As another stated, they're about 12-13" aft of the front wheel arch on the back side of the pinch weld. I could easily get to the DS drain, which was obstructed by a few pine needles (which we have in abundance here!) I slipped a nylon cable tie in the pinch weld opening and cleared it out. I wish I had collected the water that came out to measure it but I'd guess it was about one quart!

Assuming the drain on the PS is in the same location, it's currently blocked by my cats and the welded-on sliders. Fortunately I don't hear water over there, but I'm never in the passenger seat. I'd still like to clean them out if I can do so easily.

Has anyone tried clearing from the TOP of the drain (at the sunroof)? I suspect I could use either some thin gauge wire or some nylon weed trimmer line, but I also suspect there are 6-8 feet of drain line to rout out.

Any thoughts or experience before I give it a try?

(So glad to have the sloshing noise out of the DS! That was driving me nuts. MUD saved my sanity on this one.)

The roof drain tubes empty into the rocker cavity. They do not port directly to the slit drains.

Wow, it's Cruisedan! You still look the same!

I had a problem where my rocker filled up and would not let my sunroof drain sufficiently, causing a leak on the driver's floor. I normally park somewhat down hill, which basically causes all of the rain on my roof to want to drain thru the sunroof. I poked a cable tie in to the front rocker drain slit and water came out for 5 minutes!

Hi everyone I found this thread by fellow peers. I tried to put a nylon cable through the drain but still when I spray the rig with water it drips on top of the drain hose as displayed in the pictures. I put all the plugs on the bottom of the rocker panel and also on the floor. Am I doing it the right way?

How can I find the remaining leakage? Thanks for helping out.
