Driver door sag, anyone try these hinges?

Coincidently.... l've recently taken delivery of the bulkhead wiring harness grommets...l was initially wondering how l'd get the harness thro the grommet...after some exploring (trying to fix a wiper motor harness water leak) l began checking relays & noting part numbers, l noticed many of the wiring connections might go thro the grommet 1 at a time with persuasion on the door side.. l haven't tried it yet but l'll give it a go... starting on the passenger side (UK left)... if anyone's any tips (we newbies) would appreciate it....
I come from the FJ40 Romper Room (kids show when growing up here in the states) where everything is much easier and more accessible.

Seems like the vehicle side has to be the way to go but knowing these 60 series trucks, I’ll probably have to take the rear axle off to do this wiring job in the front door.

I’ve got to do it though, some hack in a previous life absolutely mangled the grommet installing an alarm system/key fob auto locking type thing. Hence, the Texas version of the river Thames funneling in when it rains.

Hopefully someone will chime in, I’ve researched it and only come up with “then I replaced the grommets”.

l way around it l suppose is.. if you're stuck & have spare grommets (just in case it doesn't work)... you could slice open 1 side of the grommet, put your wiring into a thin sleeve (say packaging plastic) put it within the grommet then super glue the grommet back together (let it dry) then put it in place with the glued seam on the least stressed side ..then tape the outer sheath of wiring where it exits....just a thought. If l was absolutely stuck thats what l'd do as a temporary measure.

That is not a bad idea actually.
I’d probably use RTV or rubberized epoxy to mend it back together but honestly I’m a little upset with myself that I didn’t at least consider this on my own.

l spent days trying to suss out how mine was doable... that thought came to mind after l looked at all the connections & their various sizes some would go thro the grommet others would need the wires separating from their plastic connectors & it would be a prolonged process routing each connections wiring then reattaching the plastic fitment on each...it would take forever & life's too short for somethings.
You probably got lost in the thought process of how the hell does it go together... don't beat yourself up we've all been there....

Coming back to close this out to a degree.

Finally got up the berries to remove the fender and tackle these hinges.

A couple things learned:

The original hinges in question (first post) are not worth the effort of taking the fender off. They are very misaligned and poorly stamped.

The fender is a lot of effort to take off.
So. Many. Bolts.

I had to shim the bottom of the bottom hinge off the body to get the door side anywhere close to lining up. I did end up putting these on for now but I am on the hunt for a good set or rebuild the OE ones. Will be getting the SST knock off S wrench for the next time.

Door panel alignment is a bit off now but it’s tighter to the truck/better seal.

Everything actually looked pretty good in there, cowl drain was clean and only some surface rust here and there that I treated.

Thanks for sharing this. I was looking for a pair of hinges a few weeks ago but couldn't find anyone who had fitted and tested them. Sadly predictable that the aftermarket stuff is no good.

In the end I got a used original pair from Maarten at Cruiserworld. I'm RHD and he"s in Europe with mostly left-handed stock. The LH hinge had a tiny bit of movement, the RH was almost as tight as a brand new oem hinge (which is pretty stiff) They're on the bare body at the paint shop right now.

Yeah for sure.

I was definitely skeptical of them but had hope since they were of Taiwanese manufacture. I definitely should’ve known.

I just found a set of good used OE hinges from a seller here who is parting out an FJ62. I’ll be getting the SST for sure. Taking the fender off sucks.

And the Toyota part number for the door adjustment wrench 09812-00010

You can find that 12 mm door hinge wrench (copies) on eBay for much cheaper. Just make sure you get the version that has the little dog leg at the box ends. Some do not.

Nice job ReviSK!
I'm learning from you and glade to see I'm not the only OCD FJ62 owner out there! I will be on the hunt for the hinges, thank you for the intel.

I’ve been looking, seems like they are out of stock currently?

Going to poke around here and see if @aljollano or @CenTXFJ60 has one?
