About a month ago I noticed when I locked my doors with the fob I did not hear that familiar sound of the doors locking. I turned, pressed the button, and visually saw all lights flash. I figured the doors were locked. They were not.

This is what I know:

TVSS remote system
With Fob:
  • Press once: Lights flash once and the vehicle is armed. Security light in dash flashes red and horn sounds if the doors are opened. However, the doors do NOT locked.
  • Press again, lights flash twice, and you hear the doors unlock (even though they are not locked). System is unarmed.
With Key:
Locking and unlocking perform normally.

Manual - Inside Vehicle:
Locking and unlocking perform normally.

Is there a specific door lock relay for the remote system? I have an EWD manual. I feel comfortable dealing with electrical stuff but often need guidance .

I have attached the page with relay locations. I see there are several associated with the door locks, D20-27. Or, am I completely off?

Can any of you experts point me in the right direction?

As always, thanks in advance!

Actuator

I thought of this but why would the actuator function with a key and not the fob? Sorry, if I am misunderstandig something that is obvious.

If your doors lock and unlock normally without the fob, the problem is likely with the alarm module itself. Both Toyota dealer–installed alarms are self–contained and simply tap into existing circuits to provide additional functionality.

There's a TVSS circuit diagram floating around here somewhere. Check the FAQs.

This is the TVSS Owners Guide, which I still have. It provides general information but does not provide pinout information nor how the TVSS integrates with the lock system.

Thanks for your interest. I think you are on to something. This is why I was wondering if there is a specific relay I could test.
