I have an annoying door lock issue that I've been trying to research with no results.

I have a '96 with no remote key fob. It unlocks and locks/unlocks as it should with the key in the door lock cylinder. I have a fob that's *supposed to* work, but haven't gotten around to trying to program it yet. That'll probably be a whole other thread.

But...

When driving down the road (or any time with the truck running), if I try to lock the doors with either driver/passenger switch, the doors lock and immediately unlock. No matter how many times I try it, same result.

Also, every time I turn the engine off, the locks do the lock/unlock duo (without me even touching the switch). Once I'm out of the truck, I am able to lock the doors with the driver/passenger switch and they stay locked.

Anyone had a similar issue? My '03 GX470 has the programmable locking system, but I'm not seeing that on the 80s, just the 100s. Help?

I had this problem. I removed the driver's door panel then disconnected then reconnected the door lock ECU that lives there. Problem fixed for me

It could be the door light switch buttons. I know of a couple folks the when they turned left the doors would unlock.

Basically, it thinks a door is open or the key is in the ignition.

Can also try removing the drivers kickplate at lower left, pull the harnesses out of the A pillar and unplug and replug a few times. That fixed my windows problem when I had gone through all switches.

I have something similar my auto door locks are not working for pass & both rear doors ? How do I fix them?

That's probably a different issue. The motors in the locks go bad... but they're replaceable. Search the forum
