I have a 78 FJ40 and I am debating between geting 31 bfg's or 33's. Stock hieght and stock wheels hub cap wheels. Is there anyone who can fit there 40 in a standard garage with 33's?

I measured mine yesterday and I had like 3.5 inches from the rollbar to the bottom of the raised door. I have 235's right now. This makes me think the tallest tire I can get and fit in the garage is a 31.

What do you guys think?

My door is standard 7 ft. door. I have 35's 4in lift and I fit with an inch or so to spare.

I have s 4" lift & 33" BFG MT Stands @ 6'10" with Soft Top I can just Barley clear the garage door with less than 1" to spair

The truck height will only increase by half the increase in tire diameter. Yes, you have plenty of room.

Worse comes to worse,,, if you come up short a bit,,, you can always air down ,,,PITA though but your 40 will be in the garage, hope it aint your DD.

Mine fits with room to spare. 33s, 4 inch lift SUA. I'm going 35s in a month or so when I can get a good deal.

OK, so you basically have 29" tall tires right now. You have 3 1/2" to spare. If you go to 31s you won't be raising your truck 2", you will be raising it 1" (31/2 - 29/2). If you go to 33s you will be raising it 2" (33/2-29/2). So 33s should work. If it's too close you can let some air out to get it in and out of the garage. HTH

I have 3.5" of lift and 33's and my garage door is 80 inches with it totally flat up on it's tracks. I don't have a hardtop but with the inside handle removed from the door my truck fits in no problem with my Kayline soft top on. With the handle on I poked a hole in the back of the top once backing into the garage. I actually put a power opener on the door just so I wouldn't have to shove a screwdriver in the track to hold the door up to get the cruiser in.
