I am nearly finished rebuilding and reassembling a 2F. I painted the block but I put the head on and I like the natural color. Is it really necessary to paint the head?

It will cool better without the paint.
I would... but it's not necessary. If your valve cover leaks some oil... it won't get all rusty.

I think Toyota designed it to leak. An FJ40 without a little oil leakage…..is one that’s been parked for a while, it’s yard art
I painted mine as I didn't care for the rust look, use high temperature BBQ paint in the rattle can. Easy!

I know that nearly everyone likes black but going with silver. I will paint the head black.
Painting the head red will add 2.75 HP!
