Hey all,
I’ve been looking for plans for a rear bumper but didn’t find anything I liked so I created this. I’m getting it quoted by a couple of local shops right now. I scanned the rear using a photogrammetry app and sent it. It's set up as a sheet metal part and I'm planning on having it press broken. I've designed all weld bumpers before and it sucks so this is my first time trying to have it bent. As y'all can see its one main portion with two side/under caps.

It's setup for some 1" wide passthrough shackles Baja Designs 2 bulbs and a 2" receiver. It will require a custom crossmember and trimming the frame a bit but it'll be super high clearance when done.

Any tips or feedback are appreciated. I'll post the plans after I build it and revise the model since I've left some room for modification since the 3D scan isn't 100% and I suck at working with meshes.

Good effort, cool bumper, simple enough (lots of them are aesthetically "too much"). Strong if the thickness & attachment is done right.

FWIW there's already a guy here on Mud who's been selling a kit that looks almost exactly like this for 15 years. Yes you have to weld it, but with press braking sheet steel ... you'll still have to do plenty of welding. I got his kit, built it, and have been running it for several years. High clearance, good recovery points, solid attachment. No trimming of anything required. I've smacked it and scraped it on rocks and it's held up great. You can remove the rear crossmember if you want, but it fits just fine if you leave it too - so I left it. He has options for the bare bumper, one swing out, or dual swing outs. VERY fair prices. I don't want to downplay your effort or be a party pooper, but it feels a bit like reinventing the wheel.

if you build your own make sure you use heavy enough steel. it’s a bumper after all. i had one that looked great that a friend made but the slightest pull for recovery or eventually bumping a parking block just caused it to twist. my 4plus is probably 1/4 inch plate and that seems about right. you’ll need someone with the right press to bend that though!

check these too

his spindles are super stout!!
