I got access to a cheap hilux VF4 case which had been punctured by a front drive shaft in low speed situation but has not been driven at all after that. My idea is to basically make a crawl box between the A750F and the full time torsen transfer case just like the eco-crawler VF4. My plan is to cut the front drive shaft coupling off and get rid of the chain. Then the case would need to be modified to recieve the main transfer case somehow. I would definitely purchase the eco-crawler VF4 and use my newly acquired case as a donor but I am limited of funds so I must make it myself. I have not yet opened the case but I want to know has anyone tried this kind of thing? I want to hear your thoughts. I do not fear fabrication work.

The hilux case is basically the same thing as the J shift case from FJ. Its a part time 4wd case without a differential.

The assembly would be way too long and you would have to move fuel tank. That would be more expensive than buying the case from eco Crawler.

How could it be automatically that expensive? The fuel tank is 87 litres, I wouldn't mind it being a little smaller.

The tank is plastic. It's not easily modified by cutting and welding it back. A new tank can be made but fueling system can create big hazard when not done properly. You can move to a fuel cell inside the cabin if you don't mind losing the interior space.

Yes that is true. Maybe the best approach would be to make a new diesel tank, depending on how much the transfer case moves backwards. But I cant see the eco crawler being that much longer than the main transfer case if I can modify the donor case to be around this length.
