Dissent rear bumper and 12.5 gal LRA tank bracket interference?

Ok. So you can make a 12.5 LRA aux tank and Dissent rear bumper work together, along with the factory spare tire location. Per Dissent Offroad, any rear bumper made late 2022 and on will work with the 12.5 tank mounting brackets. I recieved my bumper in October of 2022 so it still had the old style brackets. All you need to do is cut out a "J" shaped notch on the rear most portion of the Dissent frame mounts. Plasma cutter made short work of this, but did a number on the paint.

The standard LRA 12.5 instructions (without aftermarket bumper) have you relocate the mounting bracket for the factory spare crossmember down about 1", using rivnuts. With the Dissent bumper, the frame bracket is in the way, and there is no way to cut it to make it work. I did not want to weld onto the frame or the Dissent bracket, so after looking at everything for a minute, I realized that you can trim the factory mounting brackets and get them to clear both the Dissent and LRA brackets. Then, you cut off the captive nut from the bottom of the bracket and tack in on the top. Then tack in about 1" of round tube to the bracket to act like a spacer, and mount the crossmember from the bottom. I used some home depot M8 1.25x50mm bolts as the factory ones were too short with the spacers.

The spare does sit about 1" lower so it is a bit of a compromise, but if that allows me to run a spare and not have swing outs or put it in the cargo area on a daily basis, then I consider that a win. When running trails, I'll probably drop the spare and secure it in the rear cargo area for better clearance.

One heads up, you may want to run an extension to your cut off exhaust. I had melting of my tail light assembly in the dissent bumper. It could have been a lot of factors (high ambient temp, thousands of highway miles, slow crawling, etc.) but might have been avoided if I had routed the exhaust to the side when I cut off the resonator.

Yes, good call. I have been meaning to drop it off at a muffler shop and have them weld in a turn down tip. I have a bottle of Argon for TIG that would work with stainless, but probably not worth picking up some stainless MIG wire for a single job. I could definitely see that hot exhaust stream melting some stuff in the summer when towing.

I did notice that there was some deformed plastic when I removed the stock bumper to install the Dissent.
Definitely need to get on that extension piece.
