Love what you're coming up with Ben. Just need to see the bike rack option and I will be throwing my money at you.

One thing I hadn't considered until now is that with my '06 the reverse lights will be blocked by the spare and second accessory. I'll have to add a light to the bumper i guess and wire it into the reverse bulbs.

I've read a lot of this post, but not all, so sorry if this has been covered. Would it be feasible to have a receiver mounted on a swingout that would allow for a bike rack to be used as well? I don't know if that would get too heavy, or stick out too far. But it would sure be nice to be able to have bikes on the back and still have access to the rear of the vehicle. While I would utilize gas can holders and rear tire swingout from time to time, a bike rack swing out (or the ability to slide my rack into a swingout receiver) would get a lot more use for me.

Whoops, guess I should have read the post above mine before I posted. Now I feel like a doofus. Anyway, yes, very interested to see what you can come up with for a bike rack attachment!

I think his plan is to have the ability to attach roof style mounts on the second swingout. So you're hitch mount will likely not be useful, it will still be possible to get 2 bikes attached to the swingout itself.

Got mine from the powder coater after having one of the pallets broken up and having UPS throw it all in a box.
I've got the truck stripped to the frame and should be able to start cutting this weekend!

Can't wait!

I just got called by my coater. Mines done! It wasn't supposed to be finished until Friday. Anyone know approximately how long it takes to install? I was thinking I'd have to wait till this weekend, but maybe I can knock it out after work one day.

It took me 2 1/3 hours just to get the hitch, bumper and spare tire carrier out, staged, photographed (for resale) and stored.

From here, I'm setting aside an 8 hour day at the Auto Hobby Shop on Quantico (in case I need advanced tools (Stands, or help lifting)
I did my front in a day to include the winch and lighting installs.

Hmm. Maybe I could break it up. As in, first afternoon remove the bumper, spare and carrier.

Second afternoon cut the cross member, install new cross, wings, and center section (this would be where I could get in trouble though. If I can't finish it in one afternoon, I won't have a way to work and won't be able to drive it without the crossmember)

Third afternoon do the swingout.

working on a hitch mount as well.
Have some ideas that I think will work but not 100% sure yet.
I do have a customer that was kind enough to drive 3 hours one way to bring me a couple different hitch mout racks and a bike for mock up so we will see.
I'm sure I can come up with something.

Just got back from the coaters. The pieces turned out great. I used LVP brand seashell white on the wings and center hitch piece. For the rest, I used cardinal black semi gloss.

I think it's going to look pretty damn good. So many prices though!

Luckily the GF is cool enough to let me store everything on the guest bed since we have no more room in the garage.

23 total pieces powder coated.

I went with a low gloss white that closely matches the base coat white of my LX. It won't have the pearl, but I'm 100% okay with that.

The swingout is black along with two brackets that hold the 3 pieces of the main bumper together.
I think you and I have the exact same tastes. I wanted to do the same setup with white bumper and black swing outs. I was going to try and match the pearl though. Since you have deeper pockets then me though I'll see what yours looks like and if it looks good I'll probably copy yours when I finally get my bumper. The non pearly would be easier to touch up later on. Can't wait to see it on the truck.

Only you know how hard you'll be on that bumper. If I could afford to put Ben's bumpers on my 100, I can promise you it would not see the kind of wheeling that would take paint off.

I've seen many nicely built wagons through the years...60/62/80/100...very small percentage that ever damaged a finish on a high-dollar rear bumper.

Could be that Mud represents all of that small percentage, though!

Have it painted
Not saying I'd be beating the crap out of it but I know the departure angle is something I'm always concerned with. I have also already clipped the stock bumper a couple times. Just barely, but still got it.

I hope not to mess up the finish on mine, but if I do, the company that makes the powder coat makes aerosol cans of the same colors so touch-up will be easy.

My stock bumper is damaged pretty badly, and even though Ben's bumpers are high dollar (not really much compared to competition though and trust me, you get a lot more) I don't plan on taking it any easier on the trails.

An hour later all the stock crap is out. This is my first southwest vehicle and I will never buy a northern vehicle again. Every bolt came out with my fingers after breaking loose, even after 10 years.
