Got my parts in today so I put everything back together tonight. Dropped the diff only to find a few tiny shards & shavings. But doing that gave me access to knock the axel locator ring back into place and seated more solidly. I used a piece of 2" plastic pipe that I slid into the axel housing and tapped it with a hammer. Worked perfect.

After everything was back together, took it for a test drive and all is good. I'm happy it's running again because my daughter is going to enter it into the car show she has had at her high school all week. Lucky for her, "offroad" day is scheduled for
Friday. She is so excited and I was happy to come through for her and get it ready.

Need pics of "off road" day of the car show at her school! That sounds interesting.

Glad you got it back together with no permanent damage.

Funniest thing was yesterday when my daughter arrived home from school and saw me working on the rig, she asked if there was anything she could do to help out. I told her she could clean it up a bit since it was so dirty from the last run I went on. Her reply, "No way, it shows that you actually use it offroad and it's not a poser car". Thought that was pretty cool of her to think that. Thant's my girl!
