Yes that line goes through the manifold to the VSV. Just leave it as is it doesn't matter.
 
OK so in order to disable the modulator, an alternative to capping off any TB ports is simply swapping the lines from the modulator to the TB?

The next thing I'm going to test is if applying just the open loop circuit completely disables the EGR system.....
 
The redneck guide:

  1. Unplug the temp sensor.
  2. Take a paperclip.
  3. Stick one end of the paper clip into the plug (ECU side, not sensor side).
  4. Stick the other end of the paper clip into the plug. (Other open hole.)
  5. Duct tape in place.
  6. Step #6.

It's interesting that by doing this why the CEL is not coming on :hhmm: The ECU is not getting what it wants as a feedback.

Thanks for the detailed explanation, this worked well for me.

The ECU must be getting what it wants or else it'd throw a code. If you reset the ECU, it'll (eventually) mark emissions as good. If it was getting something out of spec it'd either:

A) Throw a code
B) Never mark emissions as ready

My guess is that Mr. T wanted a quick and easy way to disable EGR for non-Kali spec trucks. It'd be childs play to program the ECU to accept an loop as disabled.

The opposite is not true. If you have a too much resistance or no connection at all, it'll throw a code (insufficient flow). If you have some resistance (but not enough to be in spec), it'll throw a code (too much flow). If you have no resistance, but the wire is connected in a loop, then the ECU is happy.

You simply bypass the temp sensor, correct?

To me, the words "open (continuous) loop" is very confusing. I thought you meant open circuit at the beginning, but then I have a hard time understanding an open circuit that is also a continuous loop.

Yeah, I actually shouldn't use the word open.....

Yes, you're simply bypassing the temp sensor.
 
Any updates on disabling the modulator, Ebag333?

Still no CEL. Still drives fine. :meh:
 
Sweet. No CEL - that's what I was waiting for. When you're a technical guy like me, the last thing you want to be doing is driving a vehicle around with the light on. I'm going to do this next week.
