1996 FJ 80 nicely propelled by a Mitsubishi 4 cylinder diesel with a compound turbo set up. Truck is triple locked and white in color. Ironman lift with 35’s all around. Cloth interior. Long range fuel tank good for 600 plus miles per tank.
This truck was engineered and built by Mud member Superhatch. Please look up his build thread on Mud for all the details of how this rig was put together. All I did to rig was regular oil changes and installed a new starter when the original started to act up. Also added a spare tire mount inside the rear to keep the spare out of the weather.
Truck has performed without a hitch during my ownership and returns 19- 22 MPG depending on around town or highway cruising use. Plenty of power and torque. I haul quite a bit of gear when I go away in this thing and it does not even break a sweat.
The price is $14,000. USD. I have owned a few Land Cruisers in my day and this one produces the inevitable hard to erase grin on your face every time you drive it. If you always fancied a Diesel Cruiser but could not afford or justify the $20,000. plus it would cost to duplicate, I’ve got the solution.
