Is the input shaft for a 3B buttoned up to a H42 4 spd the same as the input shaft for a H55 in the same application? In other words, if I wanted to pull out the H42 in my 1982 BJ42 and install a H55 5 spd, can I reuse the input shaft? H55's are easy to find, but input shafts and top plates (shift towers) are another story. I don't want to cut any holes in the floor, so I'm looking to come up through the original ones. If the input shafts are the same, then it's really only a hunt for the top plate. Thanks in advance...
