the toyota diesels are sweet, but a 12valve cummins would be a lot easier on the wallet, and a lot easier to find locally. there are importers of the toyota diesels in the vendor section but they come with a hefty price tag, also you will probally get more help in the 80's section.
 
rozel2 there is an excellent writeup on diesel conversion into a Cruiser in Toyota Trails-it is one of the 2006 issues-the one with the ICON edition restoration FJ40 on the front cover (red). It is by Henry-I believe a Texas Cruiser owner and he had the conversion done by Proffitt's Cruisers in Colorado. I believe he was putting into a FJ62 if I remember correctly.
