I have a 1977 with a replacement 2F engine. When I purchased the truck 2 years ago, it had a knock off Webar carb and no air filter. Bought the small rectangular filter kit for the Weber carbs. It works, but the filter gets pretty dirty, pretty quickly. Found a Toyota 2F air filter assembly, which I purchased on Ebay, used. Cleaned it up and painted. Bought a Weber to Toyota air filter adapter. Adapter just came in on Friday. Brought everything to the truck on Saturday. Sitting the air filter housing on top of the engine, the bolt holes don't line up and the side bracket doesn't line up with anything on the side of the engine. The distance between the bolt holes on the air filter is 20". The distance between the bolt holes in the top of the valve cover is 18". I'm guessing the air filter housing may be for a later model 2F engine? Not sure if there is some way I can make this work?

or an fj60 assembly.
get a later 2f valve cover, with the threaded plastic 710 cap.

Personally an air filter that requires cleaning often is doing its job, that's a good thing.

I ran the oiled foam unit from man-a-fre from like 1984 to last year. The foam finally wore out, I cleaned it with gas and oiled it back up like 3 or 4 times a year for most of that time except for 10 to 15 years I was down.

Last summer I bought some 1" thick oil air filter foam sheets from Amoron. I cut the foam to fit, hot glued and sewed together to make the sock to fit the manny liner. After the glue dried I oiled it up and put it to work - works good so far. Still have a full sheet of foam for the next time.
