JR... your site is great. And your 60 is one of the coolest I have seen. Love the green and black. Where can I pick up some TEQ stickers?! I want some.

MY FJ60 runs 5 1/2inches of lift, 35" tires, and 4.11 gears with the stock 4spd tranny...I still cruise at 70mph with the tac reading just under 3k...not sure I'd want to go any faster!!!

Just think of an FJ60 as an insurance policy...that safe guards you from ever getting a speeding ticket!!

haha thats what I thought but I got pulled over on the beach last week. I was doing 18 in a 10. The cop let me go with a warning. I just said i dint know my speedo was off :D

its easy to cruise 70-75 with the H55F, the ol' diesel chugs along great, unfortunately i have no tac #s for you as the tac doesn't work..... Even at those speeds though, there's always some passing you, everybody just needs to slow down. And the bounce is 100% normal unless it bucks like a mechanical bull....but even then..... :D

In 5th gear, with 3:70 gearing and 31" tires, 70 mph is about 2500 rpm. I can't be exact, because the larger tires throw off the speedometer. I seldom drive any faster than about 75 mph. Contemplating 33" tires and 4:11 gearing.

wow. i didn't expect all of the responses.

i have been on this board since i got my 60 back in march. there is a lot of positive talk and support which is really awesome. it beats paying for therapy i guess :D

anyway, wanted to shout and say thanks to everyone on the board, esp the 60/62 series.

sometimes i feel like a nitwit when it comes to my 60 because of my limited mechanical knowledge and the fact i have never owned a vehicle quite so unique, but there is so much support on this board that i have gained a lot of confidence and learned tons.

anyway, makes me feel better with all of the responses.

i'm not complaining about having the 60 and it being slow etc. i love it and wouldn't trade it for anything else.

My old stock 62 with 31's did 70-75 mph on the highway without issues other than the fact that it rode like a........well, like a truck. But when you add in the cool factor, yer way ahead of everyone else on the road. :D

patride71,

I'd guess that every single one of us could list many "nitwit" examples, most of which we never do again...I could mention the time I replaced both my starter and ignition switch trying to fix a "no start" problem. In the end my wife had the right suggestion - "have you checked to make sure the battery connections are clean honey..." Guess that's why she's the better half...

If you're a nitwit, you're in good company!

any land rover or lifted heep guys ever try to race any of you?? I get that more than I thought I would. Today I passed a rover at in inner section as I watched him stare me down. I look in the mirror and see him blazing pass people to catch up and ride along my 60. Freaks I tells ya.

Haha. I wish. I'd act like I was going to blow their doors off, then take off as normal...

... and laugh as they rode away ahead of me.

Now that's comedy.

maybe he wasn't trying to race you, maybe he was just trying to hurry back to the garage before the f'er broke down again (or was staying behinde hoping you'd give him a tow?)

:flipoff2: Land Rovers...

patride,

The real secret is ... nobody is "born" a great mechanic. Everybody has the same progression through knowledge and experience.

The real trick is ...

"Success is 1% inspiration and 99% presperation ..." by Albert Einstein (sp?).

Gotta be one of my favorite quotes.

Hang in there, move forward, maybe slow down a bit, but *never* give up.

My best,
Cahil

dude its a 60 learn to love it brotha....just wait to s*** floods or dumps a ton of snow then pass people...if not just chill out and lis to some good tunes...
You know its funny that exact thing happened to me the other day. I live in Christchurch, NZ and although our winters can be pretty cold, it only snows maybe once a winter. We had a crazy dump of snow a couple of weeks ago so I went for a cruise and was laughing to myself cause for once I was riding everyones ass. It was also funny cause there were heaps of brand new 4wds - 2004 range rovers and the like (also known as Remuera tractors (Remuera is an 'elite' suburb)) inching arounding the streets, nervous as hell having never seen a puddle before let alone a foot of snow. Anyway roll proud bro and hope for a tsunami or something!

So you get a little sign that you can hold up... "LIKE MY TRUCK?"

Had a guy in a Range Rover stop next to me at a light in San Fransisco - "Your Cruiser is cool - best 4 WD ever build, used to own one... yadda, yadda." He didn't LOOK gay...

Einstein has a lot of quotes out there....This one is along the same line as yours

The secret to creativity is knowing how to hide your sources. - Albert Einstein

The one I use most frequently is:

Damnit! -Albert Einstein

And while we're at it, I think it was Picasso who said that.

Einstein said "Whoever is careless with the truth in small matters cannot be trusted with important matters." - which runs contrary to the above.

at least you guys remember the quotes..seems all i can remeber or quotes from movies
I guess i should read more, but technology has dumbed me down over the years with TV, internet, and videogames.

here is an inspirational quote:

"fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life" (might not be word for word)
dean wormer (animal house)

The man who doesn't read good books has no advantage over the man who can't read them.
--Mark Twain

Actually, I'm going through quotes right now for a project that I'm working on. Some of the biggies I hold on to - nice book marks to keep the mind active and on track, I guess. (going through Mark Twain right now - guy was GREAT mind)
