Ft. Meyers Fl. Any mudders wanna give me a hand?

I posted this in the Hunting Fishing section and didn't get any response. I asked the God...errr Mods what else I could do, they recommended the Clubhouse, strange, never heard of it before now.. That's what I get for being stuck in the 80 Tech section..

Anyways, here's what I need.

I've helped out several mudders abroad, mostly checking out trucks in the Houston area.

I'm looking for someone in the Ft. Meyers Florida area to check out a boat for me. I can pay gas and whatever you think it's worth for your time. I want someone that knows a little about boats to look at it, take lots of pictures so I can decide if it warrants paying ~$500 to have it professionally surveyed, then ~$1200+ to have it shipped to Houston.

Thanks

Andrew

Wrong side of the state. There are a few folks in the Tampa vicinity, maybe one of them can chime in.

I'm interested!!

Just checked the vacation schedule at work. Too many people are gone on vacation for them to let me have Fri the 5th off. I'll try too get creative and see what kind of vacation trading I can pull off.

If you never have been to Coccolocco, you should go!!
It is a great place to wheel. More trails and a little bigger than Golden Mountain.

If the boat/yacht is of any size you want to pay for the survey. If the barge was built before or put in service in Ft. Meyers prior to 2004 beware! Everything in the water during Hurricane Charlie in the Ft. Meyers area sank. These vessels continue to show up for sale in markets all over Florida. We are also seeing vessels that have been towed or shipped in from New Orleans which sunk during Katrina.
Probably a good contact for you is Ft. Meyers Marine. These people are very reputable and may be able to assist you in checking out the vessel. They may even know the vessel if they serviced it even though there are thousands down there.
Now is a good time to buy because of the hard hit Florida economy and people are dumping their toys as fast as they can...you may pick up a great deal however I strongly suggest the survey. There are a lot of sharks in Florida!

Loading Luis's camper onto his new trailer after Truckfest 2012 .

Point taken.
A few more details.

We are looking for a boat without motors as we have 2 yamaha 115's still under warranty.
That limits us to very few boats that meet our requirements that the 115's will push. It's likely if not probable the boat has been under water. If the price is right, and there is no structural or rot damage I would still consider a hurricane boat..

The one we have in mind I tend to believe has not been dipped. It's at a broker, and I guess I need to research this broker, but he is willing to sell the boat for a hell of a lot of money with 2 new motors on it or in my price range without them. That tells me the boat is worth repairing..

Problem is my price range isn't all that high. :)
The hit on 2 new Yamaha's sucked to have the boat give in shortly after..

I like the lower profile look. Can you get into the camper with a truck on the back?

I'd help out, but there are two problems. One, I'll be on the right latitude but wrong coast this week. Two, I don't know jack about boats :(

Damnit! Steve, don't tell me that!

I want to go... just not sure if I can pull it off. I'm trying as well to work it all out.

Finding an non powered boat was a lot easier 3 to 4 years ago however there are still quite a few around.
Can you give me more info about what your looking for ie: Center Console, Catamaran, Cuddy, length, width, built ins like fish boxes, cooler, etc. and so on. If you are looking for a specific brand or brands mention that also.
My cousin is a professional guide in Ft. Meyers area and between the two of us we might be able to find one.

Great pictures, thanks!

But what did everyone buy? Anything good?!

Seriously?

So I'm watching Shark Week...which is awesome by the way....but then they do this to me...

A Jeep? really?

I mean i'm not a hater, but surely a LC would be way better even if its not as easily recognizable as a Jeep its more durable and capable I would think, especially a diesel. Doesn't seem like this Jeep is.

anyway, just thought I'd say something. We should start our own series...Austin, I'm looking at you, Mr. Overlander. :steer:

Lets do this...:bounce:
