Buy it. U can store it for you as long as you need me to...............hell, I might get bored and need something to tinker with.

I went out and started wrenching on it... even cranked it and such... it's not fitting with me... it's kinda weird... I'm not gonna push myself on it... we're not a good fit.

You're a 3FE 80 guy. Stay away from the 40's.

The Shunt has his narrow nitch: '91-'92 3FE FJ80. I wish I knew my 40 as well as he knows those FJ80s.

LOL... the thought process is to eventually have a 3FE'd 40... can you believe that shunt?

What about a hybrid.... 2FE?

Well... yeah, that would work too... gotta get a 40 first though! LOL.

For now.... I'll juss find Lorena a fuel cell, remove the enormous fuel tank then work on the custom headers and exhaust...

Why is finding a cell so hard? I don't get that. Just get a cheapo from Summit.

cause I'm stupid and have found no info on the scenario needed... never dealt with it before.
My thought process would be to buy a cheapo like you refer... and cut a hole in the top to drop the factory pump into... but no one has done this on an 80... so I'd like to know the "gotchyas" before it leaves me stranded.
Or what? Buy the tank and electric fuel pump and manually cut it off? Not sure how it'd be setup... ideally i'm thinking of only a 10-12 gallon tank with a big enough area to cut an oval the size of the oem sending unit to drop in...

my electric pump runs off of factory wiring

I say keep lorena and get longfields.
if you truly want a buggy, sell everything and buy one. if you dont have enough moula when you total up your s*** then ..

a little cut here and a little cut here and lorena is a buggy!

you could really redneck out and just move the stock tank to the bed. just extend all the wiring hoses. if it bothers you how it looks then just cover it with sheet metal.

you're running an external pump?

that was exactly what i was after!.... just with a smaller tank... get it... the 25 gallon tank is too big to move up there...

AND i suppose i could buy a Summit fuel cell and accomplish the same thing... right?

You can use a cell with integrated sending unit from what I understand, but the resistance on a Toyota is opposite from that of a universal sender(GM sender). GM uses 0-90ohms for empty to full and Toyota uses 90-0. Therefore your gauge would work backwards(Full is empty and empty is full).

It stands to reason that if you reversed the polarity at the sender that the resistance would be corrected, but I can't verify that.

**edit**
Actually found the Toyota spec.

Toyota specifies the resistance on the FJ/FZJ80 from 15ohms(full) to 127 Ohms (empty).
So in theory, you could still use the universal sender, but it isn't going to be super accurate. Another option would be to install a universal fuel gauge which would operate as intended with the universal sender.

Did I really just post some tech in here? No way..

JEEBUS. Don't let it out that you know this type stuff, somebody may want you to help them!

Get them parts coming...

Plastic fuel cell on switched 12v, filter on each side of pump.

Peel out.

Damn dude, you are making this real hard....

Nah, just haven't read up on fuel delivery like i should. i will... I was wanting the easiest way out of just moving existing stuff...
